The Trail Blazers have assigned Luke Babbitt and Armon Johnson to the D-League's Idaho Stampede.

Oh how I wish in some bizzaro world that this meant that Oden was coming back soon but I know better than that.

How could we have traded the great Martell Webster for Babbitt and Gomes!

Actually this saddens me. It's the final nail confirming we wasted the entire 2010 draft. We'll get nothing for them. They'll be throw-ins in the next trade, so it'll look like we got something, but not really. Pritchard did nothing each year till draft day, hanging his legacy on some very bad drafting.

Webster was no better than these guys at first, but coaches spent years on him and he evolved to where he could fail for a few minutes each game. The roster has improved and there are no holes in the roster anymore that we can keep open for 5 years.

Cool, are those games available to watch online?

TRAIL BLAZERS ASSIGN LUKE BABBITT AND ARMON JOHNSON TOD-LEAGUE'S IDAHO STAMPEDE

Babbittand Johnson to join Portland's NBA Development League affiliate

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Trail Blazers have assigned forwardLuke Babbitt and guard Armon Johnson to the Idaho Stampede of theNBA Development League.

In two stints with the Stampede last season, Babbitt averaged 19.0 points, 7.6rebounds and 1.3 assists while playing in 13 games (nine starts). He scored agame-high 34 points, while shooting 12-of-16 from the field on March 27 againstAustin.

Johnson also made two trips to Idaho last year, averaging 18.2 points, 4.2rebounds and 3.0 assists in his nine games with the Stampede. Johnson shot 59.7percent from the field in D-League action last season and scored a season-high27 points Feb. 16 against Bakersfield.

Babbitt made his Trail Blazers season debut Dec. 27, playing two minutesagainst Sacramento. Johnson has been on the inactive list for each ofPortland's games this season.

In 25 career games with Portland, Babbitt has averaged 1.4 points and 1.2rebounds in 5.6 minutes per game. Johnson has appeared in 38 career games withthe Trail Blazers, posting averages of 2.9 points and 1.2 assists in 7.3minutes per contest.

We don't need Nik to tell us anymore that they suck. It's official now. Each player took 2 tours in the D-League as rookies, and each was kicked down there only 1 week into their 2nd seasons. Wow. 3 times already for each. Just leave them there all season.

Hunh. And here I thought that sending a player down to the D-League was meant to let them get some playing time and improve their game. Apparently, I was wrong and it means that they just flat out suck. What's "waiving" for again?

I agree with this. If the two of them can hang out in the D and dominate the dojo together, maybe some other team will consider them an intriguing trade package to be included in a trade. Right now, they have no value; D-league all-stars might be thought to be worth something.

Can we trade either or both of them for a top57 protected 2nd round pick?

hopefully we never see them on the blazers bench again

Sending them to Idaho is a worse punishment than waiving them.

Armon with 12/10 last night. The dropoff in competition is amazing

That's exactly the thought I had ... I also glanced at the box and noticed what a low percentage Babbitt shot. Is it lack of confidence or just lack of skill (or both)?

Babbitt 14 points 6 boards in the 1st quarter. Armon in now.

First half stats:

Babbitt: 20min, 21 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.

Armon: 7 minutes, 4 assists, 1 point, 1 rebound, 1 steal.

Of note:
Babbitt got his shot blocked while driving to the basket twice and is 3-5 from three.

I didn't gt to watch Armon much cause I was making dinner during the second quarter.
