Malcolm Brogdon trade ideas

Is it worth taking on his contract just to get our pick back? Seems like we don’t get anything for Brogdon in that scenario.
We get out of the obligation to give up a future first to Chicago. The only other way we get out of that is by missing the playoffs for the next 5 yrs.

I assume we will make it sooner than 2028, at which point the pick we have goes to Chicago.

We also can move our own picks in future trades if we get it back in our control.

Yes it is worth it. Having Ball sit all year is actually a good thing so Ant, Shae, and Scoot get all of the minutes. Next year, he is either an expiring contract or a very valuable guard off the bench. Ball is a huge difference maker on defense and plays the type of ball we should be preaching.

But I don’t think they give up PWill to get off Ball’s contract. Brogdon isn’t a player of that level.

What about Brogdon to Philly? It seems to me, the same teams interested in Jrue would be interested in Brogdon.

Yes but again, I think Ball is done and just eating up cap space. Taking his contract is worth getting our pick back on its own, isn’t it?

I don't see Chicago willing to send out Williams for Brogdon though, they really like Williams and he's young.

I could see them willing to give us a future pick top4 protected, so that's Brogdon for Ball our pick, and another future 1st.

I'd do that, ultimately the Dame deal turns into 5 FRP and two swaps plus Ayton, Williams!

If Robert Williams or Ball get healthy might be able to flip them for even another pick next year.

Yeah agreed. Get ball off their books, give them a starting point guard and we get a couple picks.

i don't see much difference in Lonzo's future and Brogdon's future medically. Brogdan can maybe play now.

Everything I have heard is that Brogdon is healthy and ready to play. Last I heard about Ball, he might have to retire. Has there been an update?

also, unlike Holiday whose value could have only gone lower if we kept him, I think Brogdon's value can only grow from here. I see us keeping him til the deadline and recovering some of the value he lost as a result of that failed physical earlier this summer.

I can foresee us squeezing out a late first from him at the deadline from a team in desperate need for vet PG help for a playoff run.
This might be true, if other teams are reluctant to trade for Brogdon bring him here to prove he's healthy for 20 games; then flip him.

If a team wants to give us decent value now I'd just pull the trigger if I'm Cronin. But if were not getting at least a FRP it's better to hold Brogdon and see if his value can go up.

I don't see it either, but then again I didn't see us getting...
a 20-10 beast for Nurk
or
2 EC finalist rotation players + 2 mostly unprotected 1sts for Holiday.

Who knows wtf JoeCro is going to pull out of his hat.

I also think that we can still capitalize on the arms race that we have created.

Bucks added Dame.
Celtics added Holiday.

What is Philly gonna do?
What is Miami gonna do?
What is Chicago gonna do?

Nobody could or would have predicted what he's done so far. Maybe pieces of it. But not the whole.

Brogdon won 6MOY award in 2023.
I say if we can't get a decent 1st round pick keep him and consider trading Simons for a young three. Brogdon is a better defender, and 6'5". Then move Shae to 2 and bring Brogdon off bench.

I read it as saying they can't trade their 2028 pick, as their 2029 pick is already coming to us. Ted Stepien rule.
Celtics have a 2028 swap with the Spurs, so Fanspo might think they're missing that pick but theyre not since its a swap.

Best you can hope for is a top 10 protected with a 3 year period to convey, imo. But I’d still take it though.

I don't think Brogdon physical was that bad, there was concerns he might need surgery for an arm ligament issue and the Clippers were not able to complete a thorough physical in time. Celtics pivoted to a different deal as they had a strict deadline to complete the Porzingis trade since his player option had a deadline. Ive heard Brogdon has since recovered without surgery and is available now go start the season.

what is Toronto going to do? seems like Brog would be a good fit there

I'm guessing we're not popular among Eastern Conference contenders. We already know Miami hates us. Milwaukee right now isn't thrilled with us. If we send Brogdon back East, Boston and who knows who else will hate us?

It's nice being hated.

Oh we might be popular with at least one more because I still think the teams trying to get Jrue will be interested in Malcolm.

Clippers supposedly had been in discussions for months to give up pick(s) for Brogdon.

Rumor is Blazers had tentative deal with Clippers to send Jrue there for two unprotected FRP. Then gave Boston a final chance to trump that offer which they did and we closed the trade.

So we get back the player clippers had been offering almost as much for? Now Cronin can just close the Brogdon deal with the Clippers.

That's potentially two trades Cronin has done that directly setup a great return on a follow-up deal.

Let's see what happens, Cronin definitely taken a huge step up this last week in my evaluation of his trade and negotiation skills.
