...I think he's possibly past the point of coping a plea...so he'll probably spend the rest of his life in jail.

I think he can flip anytime before the trial ends.

You'd think a guy facing life in prison killing cockroaches non stop, would want to flip.

Trump is going to pardon him. Tonight.
I doubt that Trump will waste more of a pardon on him than pardoning him for passing gas.

"With this sepulcher I, Donald Trump, President of these United States, hereby pardon you for passing gas that smells worse than your garbage can."

Manafort's strategy is certainly puzzling. All of his legal gambits have predictably failed. His type of case is easy to prove, and it sounds like they have plenty of evidence. Maybe he has a legal ace up his sleeve somehow, but at this point it seems unlikely. He could have made a plea deal months ago but instead went to jail. Maybe he wants to be put in witness protection and the feds are saying no? Maybe he's going to take a cyanide capsule? Maybe the Russkies will break him out of jail?

Guess we'll find out soon.

Wow. Looks like Gates and Manafort totally played Meuller.

Meuller dropped 22 charges against Gates and Gates testified he and Manafort failed to report foreign accounts (as Meuller told him to in exchange for immunity. If you do this knowingly and fully understanding the tax intricacies and laws pertaining to foreign accounts it is a crime (for which Gates has immunity).

Then Gates proceeded to testify that he lied to the tax preparers.

Then he testified that he had been embezzling from Manafort for years to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars.

This effectively proved Manafort left the money matters and account details to Gates to handle, and had no knowledge of the financial crimes Gates was committing.

Good luck with that.

...ummm, no.

"I would say he was very knowledgeable. He (Manafort)was very detail-oriented. He approved every penny of everything we paid," Washkuhn told jurors.

...you also claimed that "the trial is on the verge of dismissal after only 2 days due to lack of evidence presented."

...still waiting on that link.

If it proves that Gates is all at fault then why is Mueller proceeding with apparently an iron clad case against mr. Manafort? Huh? Why?

Any bets on the outcome of the Manafort trial? Ooh, then he's got another similar trial to go. Looks like he might not ever see daylight beyond a prison ever again. Which reminds me, do you think he'll flip?

OMG, Get your Maytag washer fixed as it's constantly stuck on spin cycle.

" After briefly guiding Gates through how he came to meet Manafort and work for him, Andres asked, “Were you involved in any criminal activity with Mr. Manafort?” Gates replied, “Yes.” Andres then asked, “Did you commit any crimes with Mr. Manafort?” Gates said, “Yes."

Andres pressed for details. Gates said that he conspired to falsify Manafort’s tax returns by lying to his accountants about his finances. He said that he had done that “at Mr. Manafort’s request.” He also said that he and Manafort had set up fifteen foreign bank accounts without disclosing them to the U.S. government, and that they failed to register Manafort as a foreign agent. “When asked why he had lied, Gates said he had done so at Manafort’s request,” the Washington Post’s excellent live blog reported. “Separately, Gates explained that Manafort had directed him to report money wired from his foreign bank accounts as loans, rather than as income, to reduce Manafort’s taxable income. Total immunity for 22 counts = liar

Any jury can see that.

Judge Ellis has repeatedly said Meuller is abusing the justice system to smear the President, and doesn’t care about Gates or Manafort.

...Ellis has not said that during the trial...but you already knew that, right?

...as far as Gates being a "liar"... he has a strong incentive to tell the truth.

...not sure if you are aware of it but part of the language of his plea deal with the Feds is a clause that essentially says that if he's caught in a lie his deal is automatically voided.

You think Gates' testimony is the only evidence? Silly rabbit.

Do you know that lying under oath after accepting a plea deal is illegal and would mean all the original charges would be put back on Gates and he would be going to prison for a long time, maybe as long as Manafort will be in prison for. Gates has incentive to tell the truth.

Manafort ain't going to prison. He's gonna flip either at the last minute or even after the trial. Do you think he wants to spend the rest of his life in prison? He'll weasel out of most of the charges by flipping his middle finger at Mr. Potato Head.

...if he rolls on Captain Comb-over it would be worth it...but I think that ship may have already sailed...although there will be a long time between conviction and sentencing...maybe time enough for "a deal".

...Judge Ellis has been acting like an over-officious dick since the trial began...maybe this will tone his act down a bit;

10:01 a.m.: Judge Ellis begins court with mea culpa for outburst over expert

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III has raked prosecutors from the special counsel’s office over the coals for the past week and a half. But on Thursday, he backed down, telling jurors to ignore one piece of criticism.

Live coverage Day 7: 4:29 p.m.: Prosecutors call a witness who has watched the whole trial, angering Judge Ellis (UPDATE: who earlier permitted it)]

“The Court’s sharp reprimand of government counsel in front of the jury on August 8 was therefore erroneous,” the prosecutors wrote. “And, while mistakes are a natural part of the trial process, the mistake here prejudiced the government by conveying to the jury that the government had acted improperly and had violated court rules or procedures. The exchange could very well lead the jury to reach two erroneous inferences: (a) that Mr. Welch’s testimony is not credible because he was improperly privy to the testimony of other witnesses, and (b) that the government sought to secure an unfair advantage by secreting its expert in the courtroom without permission…This prejudice should be cured.”

Ellis said Thursday that he had not actually read the transcript, which was attached to the government motion.

But, the judge said, “I was probably wrong.”

He added that he makes mistakes, “like any human — and this robe doesn’t make me any more than a human.”

He concluded, “Any criticism of counsel should be put aside — it doesn’t have anything to do with this case.”

He made a deal to lie and has followed through with it. Mueller is now the guilty one.

A witness who was allowed to hear testimony of others is worthless in any court of law.
