Funny Manly stuff you do?

I hate drinking alcohol with food. I can do it with appetizers but that's about it. I usually drink iced tea with steak.

I always do the same order with steak.

Ribeye or NY, medium rare
Wedge salad to start
Creamed spinach on the side
My wife likes ribeye. I'm a NY guy and it's gotta have some fat on the outside edge for me to burn. I like to freeze my steak so it doesn't get overcooked in the center.
Iced tea? Ain't nothing wrong with iced tea so long as it has lemon in it. I either drink plain black tea or jasmine and lots of ice. Not too fond of chamomile or green tea or Earl Grey.

I love Paradise Iced Tea, the tropical shit they have at cheesecake factory and other spots.

I always Sous Vide steaks, then put it on a cast iron grill pan. I suck at grilling, so this is a foolproof way to cook

Just read all about scotch etiquette. I personally drink it neat, most frequently Ardbeg and Laphroaig. Lots of calls for adding a bit of water to open that shit up...but after all these years? Maybe I'll give it go.

It makes it taste cheaper. Its fucking rank.

A flick of water I can MAYBE understand but ice fucking sucks.
I had a double Scotch with ice last night. Had my favorite, The Dimple Pinch. I've been drinking it that way for nearly half a century.

I tried some single malt, even bought two bottles of acclaimed single malt and didn't like either one. Got a bottle of 15 year old Chevis Regal that I need to open and try.

I prefer a quality brandy with some fruit. The fruit is usually apple and pear with some pieces of cheese on the side.

The Scotch is great for insomnia.

That pretty much describes me. I'm pretty sure I've got some Irish in me.

Say, I vaguely recall you saying that you live in the South. If so, where? I was born in Atlanta and have a ton of cousins in Georgia and it Alabama where I've still got three of my aunts and another ton of cousins.

...Lanny, I'm well south of Atlanta...about 40 miles due south of Macon...out in the country...WAY out in the country.

Wow, I used to drink Haig Pinch a long time ago but it's hard to find around here...nowadays I just go for J&B.

Water to open it up is acceptable. Like I said, you dip your finger in water and then flick it into the scotch. The only manly way to do it.

Ice is shitty. Its what non-scotch drinkers do to dilute it since they aren't used to drinking non-mixed drinks.

My great niece is at Emory right now. She's been there a year and her worst grade was an 'A'. She's a pre med major and absolutely brilliant. She was a straight A student at her grade school thru high school. She even managed a program that was her idea to send kids from her excellent school to public school where they had a lot of disadvantaged kids. I'm go proud of her. She could have gone to Harvard but chose Emory because of it's relation to the Center for Disease Control. She wants to be a medical researcher.

By the way, one of my cousins used to live in Ft. Walton Beach and then Panama City which might not be too far from you.

I've probably had ten times as much high balls as you and I'm fine with ice. It's American and not Euro.

A friend of mine drinks single malt neat. I don't give him a ration of shit for that.

Even one ice cube is way too much. The big spheres still melt too quickly, you should savor the scotch

...again, I don't need any lessons on how I prefer my scotch.

...if you prefer it neat, fine...sometimes I do too, depending on my mood...sometimes with a splash of good water, ...same when I am in the mood for bourbon...it's a matter of preference but flat out saying someone else's preference is "offensive" is myopic.

Same here. Awhile back I went to the liquor store and a guy 2 feet in front of me grabbed the last bottle of Ardbeg just before I got to it. Maybe that was you.

Was he wearing a flannel shirt and dirty work boots? Aha, so we finally met.
Let me just say, it was delicious. And I drank it with like a ton of ice, moo hahahaha.

My late stepfather was a scotch drinker. He said ice was good to keep it chilled but you had to have the right sized ice. Too big and it would make the deink too cold. Too small and it would melt too quickly and dilute the drink.
Im not a scotch guy.

Charred medium rare. I like to set the fat on the outside, on fire until it gets blackened. Sometimes I freeze my NY before grilling it just so the inside will be medium rare. Then, I open a really good bottle of red from my collection. Next, comes a baked potato with sour cream, butter and chives. For veggie, this varies, sometimes it's grilled asparagus, sometimes brussel sprouts, other times grilled slices of sweet potato, spinach, turnip greens (yum), green beans.

Sometimes when we grill, we open a bottle of white that's been chilled. This is usually a sweet white. Last time we had a white it was ice wine (yum). I think I'll buy a bottle of Chenin Blanc that's sweet and chilled. That's the most delicious white wine I've ever had.

I prefer sweet white wine like moscato

If he was handsome, it probably was.

If scotch is too strong for you instead of ice put one of those little drink umbrellas in the glass.
