What he was saying was kids there are on screens just as much if not more than kids here. The difference is there are no guns there for the kids to actually use, therefore we aren't seeing these mass shootings there.

He's not arguing that kids being on screen all day is a good thing. I'm sure he would agree it's not.

Yes, kids spend time with their grandparents while their parents work there. But kids are still on screens there during that time. He said they are even on computers at school more than here.

If you gave the kids there access to guns, would there be problems? You bet. No guns there.
Remove guns will certainly impact gun crime but there is no evidence it impacts overall crime.

Many countries with much more strict gun laws have far higher violent crime and murder rates than we do here in the US.

The ones that don't generally have far better social safety net and gini coefficient than we do.

You mean, when you live in a failed state, the laws fail to protect you? Shocking!

Let me get this straight: are you saying "we're too poor of a country to be safe from guns? If only we were rich, like, y'know, most of Europe and the Commonwealth?" Wow, that's certainly a new one.

We should probably fix that before we think about restricting the rights of law abiding citizens to defend themselves.

No, I didn't say anything about wealth at all.

I did mention the gini coefficient. Are you unclear on the gini index?

link?

You said consistently, please find 2 other examples.

This is just what happened in this case.

I want to offer an apology for not offering more, or more specific ones, because I'm getting depressed working my way back through your posts. I want to clarify: my frustration stems from the fact you consistently reblog trans stories from transphobic sources, thereby ensuring the least benefit of the doubt in the framing and tone of trans existence on this forum.

Shooter was taken alive.
In Akron unarmed man shot 60 times.
The difference between them?

Oh, we can't talk about things that make white people uncomfortable.

The gun store clerk who sold this freak a gun should be charged with a crime or sued, even though he did pass the "universal background check".

They need to allow for the discretion of the seller to deny selling a gun because the buyer..... just looks like a school shooter. I mean, come the fuck on.

Just from those pictures, I'd diagnose this kid as less of the typical mass shooter, and as more of an attention whore.

And yes, I am a doctor.

I am speaking of both here and there and how by and large technology is monitored and used by youth much differently than here. Monitored by parents mostly.
There is a major difference in early childhood education of our country compared to most others. Everything from daycare to careless parents who use technology as a babysitter.

There is no way to get all the millions of parents to watch what their kids are doing. Again, parents should be doing that. But, if that's your solution how do you propose we do that?.

It's easier to restrict access to gun purchases, hold parents responsible for gun storage, and to shut down websites where these dark ideologies are being taught to kids. Those are feasible things.

I fail to see how proper parenting is so hard but gun elimination isnt.
I have also failed to hear any realistic answer to only felons having guns. Restricting guns only affects law abiding citizens. In a country where everyone is so up in arms that police cant protect them, It makes zero sense to then try to take away armed protection rights from citizens. The reality is then only criminals will have guns and all citizens will have to rely on the police for safety.
How has that been working so far? Not good from what i read.
I am for some gun restrictions. Not all. But many here who are debating, just scream guns. Until those individuals start specifying, one can only assume they mean all guns, and if so they should be able to answer the above question I would think?
I would be all ears(or eyes in this setting). I am for anything that will realistically curtail this epidemic we have going on. But I also want to maintain the right to defend myself, which in todays country, usually means owning a firearm.
What is difficult to comprehend is the anger and hostility gun opposers have towards those who are trying to see other alternatives to “just banning guns”, As if the majority of those for gun rights are not equally dismayed, disgusted and possibly in support of this wackjob and others like him.

Yeah but he was just a Supreme Court justice. We know better here in the S2 Blazer forum
He was a Supreme Court Justice. And the majority of Supreme Court Justices disagreed with him... Several times. And before the court was corrupted.

Well, I try do link a lot of sensational posts from a wide variety of topics. I'll try to be a little more cognizant of this if it is offensive or triggering to you.

The linked post in this thread clearly stated the shooter dressed as a woman, probably to aid in his escape.

There is no way to hold parents responsible for gun storage without violating the 4th amendment... Unless you're only going to be punishing parents after their child has committed a crime... in which case, we already do that.

I don't think the government can shut down websites like that without violating the 1st amendment, either. Except for very specific types of content. That would take an act of congress to expand, and I think the will to do that has probably left the building until the next time Dems have the trifecta... and even then... I'm not sure how much restriction of the 1st amendment I'd support...

I'd much rather focus on improving our social services to improve our gini coefficient. There is no down side.

Not saying the ideas you're proposing are bad, just that they probably aren't easy to enforce more strongly than we are already allowed to.

Talking about after crimes are committed. Doesn't seem it's done enough or that it's consistent across all states. Needs to be clear, your kid takes your gun and kills someone, they are done and you are done.

I'm down for improving social services, bits just going to take a long time to see the effect. We need some actions that work immediately too to help stop this shit.

For the billionth time. In general the pro gun group is exactly the group who sure seems to do the least to help social services, or expand healthcare, or improve education and so on. So what do we do. We are held hostage.

Nothing is going to stop this shit right now. Short of figuring out a psychological profile on people who are about to snap and getting them the help they need (as well as removing their access to weapons). The red flag laws should help in that respect.

The problem is none of these short term fixes will make much of a difference, so we get an endless cycle of political capital wasted on these fixes, and give the right wingers more ammunition to claim that we're being more fascist than they are.

Improving our gini coefficient would save more lives per dollar by orders of magnitude than any gun control ever has.

The model predicts a drastic reduction in homicides, from the FBI reported total of 17,250 homicides in 2016 to a hypothetical 655; a difference of 16,595.

Let that sink in for a minute: Reducing income inequality to match that of our nearest neighbor — by helping the poorest among us to be less poor — would do 100x more to reduce homicide than would adopting Canada’s more-aggressive gun control measures. And we’re talking about reducing all homicides, not just those related to guns.

Getting the same effect from gun control alone, according to the model, would require disarming twice as many US households as actually own guns, an impossibility.

Getting the same effect from GDP growth alone would require a $102,000 increase in per-capita GDP, or growth of about 177% net of price inflation. That’s not going to happen.

The model is telling us that homicide is not a race issue. It’s not a gun issue. It’s an economic issue, specifically one of prosperity and equality. Few seem to understand this, and if they do they aren’t talking about it. Until we have a national conversation about what’s actually at the root of the problem, we have no hope of solving it.

We need to get on the same page and drop the political BS to have any hope to actually solve our problems. Partisan games will no longer work. Republicans have won that game. The suggestion I posted in response to @Chris Craig should be very popular with the masses, and there is no downside to supporting it, aside from the DNC ostracizing you.

That is both narcissistic and self-hating at the same time. Maybe she watches Tucker Carlson?

Mother is a bit off.

Weird they closed an entire UPS store that her mailing address is at.
