Says it's ok cause he's black.

Barkley was on tv last night spouting off about how white people can't tell black people what to say.

My question then is simple. Why can black people tell white people what they can and can't say then?

Missed what Barkley said, but I agree with you for the most part. Notto act like oh, if we ignore everything, everyone will just be happy and love eachother. But I think it's a clear double standard that, say, that one girl gets in trouble for blackface, even though I don't think it's the same as true blackface, but then it's ok for, say, Dave Chapelle to lighten his face for skits or something.
I can understand the whole we can say the N word, you can't. Fine. I get it. But why is it ok to mock other races? Mock other religions, ethnicities, etc.?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Honestly, we make such a fuss about the things that people say that we focus more on that than what they do.

You own a gun and collect tons of cans of food and water and keep it in a cellar huh?

thats neat and all, but whats that got to do with anything?

people seem to confuse being able to say something offensive with how people react or respond to it.

Matt Barnes can say it. MM can say it. And people can react the way they want to it.

I think it's just that people don't often append the "with consequences you may not like".

As in "you are free to use the N-word all you want, with consequences you may not like." However, for MM it can be construed as hate speech and lead to a conviction. It got Paula Deen fired. Matt Barnes got fined 25k. JayZ/Barkley/Wilbon gloat about their ability to use it.

I never thought I'd see a thread about Necrophilia.

That's got to be the most ridiculous response I've ever seen to The First Amendment.

In answer to your "question?", yes, no, no, and no.

Aside from MM, none of these people are known for their intellect, sensitivity, or conversational skills. But I defend their right to say whatever, whenever, to whomever.

Offensive language is in the ear of the listener, and it carries no weight other than what the listener gives it.

Making fun of Short People skyrocketed Randy Newman to superstardom.

I have visited "Niger" before. Is that the N word they are talking about?

Matt Barnes said it and nothing happened to him

Riley Cooper said it and had to go to counselling

So if you, on your own private time, said it, the NAACP and your employer would stop you?

Stop me no, but might there be ramifications....maybe?

you aren't free from ramifications of saying things. The 1st amendment is only about the government making it a law. Private companies that you work for, or customers of a store/fans of a team can retaliate as they see fit (within the law).

I think people seem to confuse the two a lot. You can say ******, but I can also call for a boycott of your store/team/business.

It's the GOVERNMENT who can't. I sure as fuck can.

Also, didn't Riley Cooper say it in the locker room and during practices? And this

[video=youtube;-dEQxO8Yuas] isn't in the privacy of his home.
