Nets' Keys to Victory

The way we are playing this season, I can go for hours telling you our keys to the game, but I'll save myself the trouble. We just need to play great offense and great defense. Plain and simple.

If we don't win this game, we're basically doomed. We REALLY need a change.

Did anyone see how Collins got clocked in his jaw? Pretty scary.

im also somewhat mad that he picked wright over warrick, and moore should start

Nets are playing well but why isn't Kidd more involved? He has only 4 asts and it's not about stats, but its shows he isn't involved as much.

Man what a fun game. Nets are picking on a struggling team. How nice is that?

When Carter made that huge dunk on Miller, I laughed like a little school girl.

You can tell by his face when VC jumped he was thinking "Crap....not again".

Good game, yet i still dont understand why Adams isnt getting more playing time

Solid win by the Nets. Yes we won against a struggling team, but at this point we need any game to boost our confidence. Let's actually get a good streak going with good play

Kidd 12 pts 10 rebs 13 asts
Carter 37 pts 8 rebs 5 asts
Jefferson 16 pts 4 rebs
Krstic 14 pts 6 rebs 5 asts
Wright 5 pts 6 rebs
Mikki 10 pts 5 rebs
Williams 6 pts 3 rebs 4 asts

Rest of Boxscore

Yea I'm confused about that too.

RJ sucks now.

Other than that, Carter and Kidd both played terrific. And Kidd is on my fantasy team.

How does he suck? He scored 16 pts and that's what he is expected to do. Believe me, he would have more if Carter shot less. He isn't supposed to score 30 like Carter, but take the backseat and still contribute with at least 15-20.

Not to mention he shot 7-9.

He isn't as good as he was last year. Last year he would be scoring in the mid 20's. Now he's just an average scorer and he is one of the reasons for our struggles this year. Maybe his injury has effected him.

The season is still young and in case you haven't noticed RJ isn't getting the ball as much. He is getting his touches but not as much as last year.

Our reason for struggling is not RJ, but the New Jersey Nets. You can't put the blame on just one person especially in this case. It is the Nets as whole struggling. RJ averaging 4 more points would solve our defensive problems and etc.

I wasn't blaming RJ alone. I think he should be more agressive the the guys need to get him the ball more so he could average around 20 instead of 15-17. Carter needs to stop shooting so many three's and needs to attack the basket more.

Last Night: Vince Carter: 20 three attempts, 0 free throw attempts

yea but like 10 were just shooting to break the record wen they were up by 25

Yeah, it's good they were going in, I just don't want him to have a habbit of shooting too many threes.

Man Vince Carter was amazing! Could have easily broken the record for 3's.

You can be mad for taking Wright, but don't be mad because you passed on Warrick. I wouldn't call his early play a fluke, yet I wouldn't be getting ready to call the kid an All-Star any time soon. You have to take a lot of factors into consideration when discussing his early success. Most importantly, the Grizzlies are just a shell of the team they were last season. The team got rid of Shane Battier and Lorenzen Wright expecting to still be able to run their offense through Gasol in the post, so they didn't sign any free agent big men. That meant that when Gasol did actually go down, they had no roster space for signing any other big men and were pretty much forced to play Warrick serious minutes.

A lot of people know that's the case, but what most people don't realize is that Fratello never changed his playbook from last season, so most of the Grizzlies' plays still run through the four spot: the side screen and roll, high screen and roll, the elbow screen with a four-option, the turn four fist punch, the turn four, the turn out to post play, and lastly, the vplay. I could describe all of those plays in detail, but basically, the end result in all of those plays is a shot by the team's four, which would usually be Gasol but this season is Warrick. So while you have more talented players on the wing like Mike Miller, Eddie Jones, and even Rudy Gay, they're not going to get as many good looks as Hakim Warrick.

Now, a lot of you might point out that Mike Miller has actually gotten more shot attempts than Warrick this season, but that's actually a product of the offense being run through Warrick, because in all of those plays, the direction the offense takes is essentially left up to him. It becomes his choice whether to pass to Jones on the wing, give the ball to Atkins on the cut, or take his defender one on one. In this system, pretty much any four will put up great stats, but that doesn't mean they're succeeding. That is rather measured by wins and losses, and right now the Grizzlies are only 1-2 running their offense through Warrick, with their only win coming against the Charlotte Bobcats.

So with that said, I expect Warrick's statistics to remain about the same as they are now in regards to points and assists until Gasol comes back, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's as talented as Gasol unless he starts helping them win ball games like Gasol did. Also, as far as statistics go, I don't expect his rebounding numbers to stay as high as they are. He's been able to average eight rebounds per game up to this point just because of being on the floor for nearly forty minutes every game. Ultimately, his lack of size is going to catch up with him on the boards.

Also, Jason Kidd is the best point guard in the NBA, has been for the past ten years, and will be until he retires. Players like him don't come around that often, and it's a shame that he pretty much gets ignored on the national level.
