There are teams that could give more. Boston can give Brooklyn's 1st (which in itself is more valuable than anything we have).

Its funny to hear people talking Butler now. He will never end up in Portland.

I don't think you need to trade a star. A package of assets such as a Brooklyn pick, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart might get it done.

Yeah, that's true, potentially a package of multiple high first-rounders (counting Jaylen Brown as one) could do it.

Either way, we can't come close to trading for Butler.
 
Just because we are slotted for the #11 pick now doesn't mean we won't end up with a much better pick by the time the season is over - we're SO CLOSE to being in the Bottom 5!
 
If we keep the three draft picks we can get rid of Ezeli, Connaughton, and quarterman. None of their contracts are guaranteed. I'm confident Ezeli will get traded here in the next week or so though.

Could that open up enough money to sign Larry sanders?

Ibaka would be one of those gambles that could be very good or horrible. Depending if he resigns or not. But IMO very doable. We could put together a package that would entice orlando. Andy Miller is his agent. Neil would have to feel pretty good about it....and of course overpay to keep him. But on paper he would seem to fit in very well with Dame, CJ, Nurkic, and _____( SF of your choice)
 
Apparently Portland are still in the running for Okafor. We actually do need another center and a scoring option too so if the price was right, why not. We could actually afford to send them a pick now too (Memphis or Cleveland's). We could even try playing both Okafor and Nurkic together.

A lot of people said Cleveland Indians would never get Encarnacion when I was touting it, we'll see... :)
 
I always thought Paul George would fit in perfect on this team. We probably have the assets to pull it off now.....Maybe?

No, too many teams have bigs who play on the perimeter. They won't do us any good if they are out there too.

Bulls lose third straight, fall to 26-29; lost those three by an average of 26 points each. You don't think they are ready to be blown up? This is the only place to look for a trade.

Most MLB teams have the prospect depth to trade for a star player. Not the case with NBA teams.

That wouldn't work due to there both low post scorers.

Mariners managed to trade for Jean Segura by giving up prospects in Walker and Marte. Most teams can trade for stars if they give up their top rated prospects.

Exactly. They could have gotten a good deal for Taj last season, not anymore. McDermott and Mirotic haven't really panned out either. They should be looking to clear cap space to build via free agency.

Segura hit .320 last year, led the NL in hits, and is a good defensive player to boot. He was an NL All-Star.

How would you not consider him a star?
