Not trying to look into this too hard but I think he knows he might be dealt by thursday

Any interest in Gallinari? Portland doesn't really have ending contracts outside of Ezeli. It would have to be something like Ezeli and Aminu or Harkless.

If he weren't so injury-prone, he'd be interesting. Still only 28, so not necessarily out of step age-wise for Portland.

I wonder if Brooklyn would take Meyers and a future 2nd.

BKN Gets: Leonard, Future 2nd
DEN Gets: Ezeli, CLE 1st, Cash (BKN)
POR Gets: Gallo or Chandler

Would give us a replacement in case we shipped out Harkless, Crabbe, or Turner.

It would come down to if either of them would be worth the giving up the CLE 1st.

I know we have just acquired Nurkic but we should do all in our power to get Drummond. He would literally be perfect for this team. Nurkic can still comfortably get 16-18 minutes a game and develop and this is more of a case of seizing the opportunity to get a special talent when it's available.

I don't think we will be able to do this though, not with our assets. We don't even have a center to send them to compensate unless we make it a three team deal with Philadelphia or Brooklyn (Okafor or Lopez).

I'd be trying to entice teams to take our picks, Harkless, and Okafor.

If we don't trade for a star player, we need to try to get 4, maybe 5 picks, as well as shed salary. Standing pat isn't the way to go. Trading players for picks would improve ours, and give younger guys extra PT.

I am not buying into the notion that Detroit really wants to move Drummond. But if they did........what is the rule on trading Nurkic? Does it have to be just him and not part of a larger deal? 1 for 1?

It's sad that every deadline/offseason the Wolves try to deal this guy.
They're so much better with him on the court than off, almost every year.
He's proven he can win in Spain/Olympics, but he's never had the talent around him in the NBA.
I truly hope for him, and his career he goes to the Spurs or even the Bucks. Allow him to run the show with Talent around him and watch that team flourish.
Or he chooses to go back and play in Spain if he misses his family.
He deserves so much better than what he's got from the joke of a franchise T-Wolves.
Sure he struggles shooting the ball. But he does so many other things that he just can't be kept off the court.

It doesn't have to be a 1-for-1, but Nurkic can't be a part of a package. The other team could theoretically send a package of assets back.

Doesn't have talent around him? Come on. Wolves definitely have talent. Rubio just isn't very good as a starter. As a backup sure. But it's not the wolves fault he still hasn't learned how to shoot a basketball.

Right because a bunch 1-2 year players are going to win right away with one vet.
So lets look back at the previous team.
Love/Martin/Pek/Brewer... Maybe you're talking about Berea or Cunningham?
The Spanish national team had more talent on it than any of the teams the Wolves put on the floor with Rubio.
He's basically Jason Kidd.
DMC had more talent put around him in Sac.

Not trying to say Rubio doesn't have his flaws. Nor that he is a superstar, or even a star.
But I don't think there are 20 better point guards than him in the NBA.

I think there might be. Few teams have point guards who are not at least as good as Rubio. Milwaukee are a great suggestion for him except he doesn't shoot and neither do they.

Woj is stating that PHI will consider trading Noel but only if they don't find a taker for Okafor.

I like a Nurkic- Noel combo better than Nurkic-Okafor combo. Noel can play with Nurk for longer stretches and provides exactly the kind of defense we need to keep a Dame-CJ duo viable.

But I hate that Noel is up for a contract this summer.

Edit: in 17 games played this year, Noel leads the league in steal %.

If Noel can't play with a traditional center like Embiid hence why sixers are trying to trade him why would Noel work with another traditional center like Nurkic?

I think Noel can, problem is he has been injured so much same with Embiid that they don't really have much time to test it before having to pay Noel a huge contract.

I would agree with that....with this caveat. Nurkic isn't used to playing as many minutes as Embiid does when he's healthy. Perhaps there is room for them both in almost a straight platoon situation.

I wish Boston would hurry up and decide who they want. With all their draft picks, Avery, Crowder....... they are in every discussion.
Blake Griffin , Butler, Okafor......Seems like everyone is waiting on them.

They might not want to trade that picks at all. They know that they'll have to compete with LeBron's Cavaliers and a very strong Warriors team for titles now. If they acquire the best talent available in the upcoming draft (Fultz, Jackson, whoever) and then the best talent in next year's draft, they will have a great young core to compete in the future. It's not like Isaiah Thomas is old either, and their squad is good enough to be consistently in the playoffs even now.

They are probably asking themselves if trading for someone like Butler would already put them up there. In all honesty though they've missed the trick with not trading for Cousins, they could have probably got him for Marcus Smart plus Nets' pick from next year, it's an infinitely better offer than what New Orleans gave them. They'd still have this year's pick plus a bunch of future picks to trade for another player - a package of Crowder/Bradley, Jaylen Brown and Nets 2017 pick COULD land them Paul George or Jimmy Butler (they'd have to clear salaries but not much). Imagine lining up with Thomas, Butler, Bradley/Crowder, Horford and Cousins. That's an instant contender and possibly the best and most balanced team in the NBA too.

Oh Danny boy think he smarter than everyone else. He not going pull the trigger until he get another lopsided trade like he had before but the problem with that no one going to give him that trade. Danny you want Griffin and Bulter but if you don't give up no value back. So long run this will bite him in the ass. Keep waiting and have your team continue to watch Cleveland go to the NBA championship or give up some those assets and maybe get over that hump.

Yeah they had enough assets to gamble on Cousins. And they talked with Sac about it for a year, and still did not pull the trigger.

Was Ainge really smart or really stupid?

In that podcast with Lowe and Stein, Stein says we really tried to go after Tyson Candler and ended up with Nurkic. Sounds like we were really aggressive trying to get Chandler
If this is true...
Jesusfuckingchrist Neil! WTF is wrong with you!?! Thank jeebus that every single primary target of yours has left you holding your dick, and forced you to move on to better* secondary targets. How is it that other people have saved your ass over and over again?

*The only time this hasn't worked in our favor was this past summer with Whiteside/Turner.

But maybe we didn't need to give up much to get Chandler.
