Merged: |0fficial| Trade Deadline

It's sarcasm. I'd still take Gay in a trade if we got DMC.

Neal needs to figure out if we're in win now mode, or letting this cake bake.

Fortunately, he has until and least mid-December, more likely, mid-January to figure that out.

If we want to win now, getting both Cousins and Gay makes sense. It gives us both a 3rd and fourth scorers (or more likely a 2nd scorer in Cousins with C.J. getting bumped down to the 3rd option on most nights).

Gay is on the other side of 30 and not going to get any better. He's off to a hot start, averaging 23.8 ppg and shooting the ball well, but will likely regress to his normal 18ppg on .450 shooting in short order. At 30+, he is who he is.

Right now, SAC probably isn't interested. Cousins at 26.8 ppg and Gay at 23.8 ppg are their only players averaging in double digits, and a 2-3 start for SAC actually isn't panic mode stuff for them. They're used to much worse. And, they have that super expensive new stadium to fill. Things will have to get a lot worse before they dump their only two recognizable names and go into complete rebuild mode. Imagine telling all your season ticket holders you're going into full tank mode after just five games. But, time may be on our side. SAC has plenty of time to start sucking between now and Jan 14. Boogie demanding a trade may force their hand.

If we're still baking this cake, you keep Vonleh and go after Nerlens Noel.

our major problem is effort and D. I really hope we don't trade for a bad defensive big who is great offensively and rebounding but don't bring it in two of the three areas we really need.

How much longer until Greg Monroe is a Blazer?

Hopefully never. We need interior defense and Monroe is a worse defender than all of Plumlee, Aminu and Ed Davis. Sure, we could use his scoring, but 115 points should be enough to beat the PHOs of the league. It would have been, had we not given up 62 points in the paint.

Think our interior defense is bad now? Greg Monroe will only make it worse.

I agree with you, it's just with all of the rumors about Neil's interest in him the past several years it feels like it's eventually going to happen. I'd rather go after a Brook Lopez if his foot is healthy, personally.

I'm trying to. But Brooklyn has been so bad for so long despite him. And he's a poor defender and poor rebounder and he's paid over $20M a year. Oh, and has been injury prone. (All of which is why he might be available despite his manifest talents.)

I still prefer him to Monroe, Kanter or Okafor, in part because I have a soft spot for Lopezes, but also because I think he sees the big picture, does actually try to play D (and has a long reach so can do a lot just by standing still) and is a breeze in the lockerroom.

AC trades might be unlikely. He even has a massive 15% trade kicker on that ridiculous deal.

I have often felt he is the most realistic as well. He is a big man (9'5" standing reach) with skills. Smart player. You have to think he is on the trading block. Their roster is a mess. They need everything.

Think we can get another unprotected pick from them to go along with Bropez? That's what Neil really needs in order to improve the roster.

Unfortunately Billy is gone. I think Sean Marks is a little smarter. Plus the Nets can't trade a pick before 2020, anyway.

If Orlando struggles this year, I would try to flip Turner, one of our 1sts, and the CLE 1st for Fournier. Fournier is a lights out shooter as well as a good secondary ball handler and would fit so much better than Turner. Orlando might make the swap to get some 1sts. Maybe if we tossed in Davis we could get Ibaka back as well.

This would also allow us to trade Crabbe and another one of our 1sts for Noel if the opportunity presented itself.

I still like the idea of Meyers and Plumlee for Jrue Holiday and a 1st.

Lillard / Holiday
McCollum / Holiday
Fournier / Harkless
Ibaka / Aminu / Vonleh
Noel / Ezeli / Vonleh

Hopefully we're done baking the cake. I don't think we could get both Cousins and Gay without giving up a guy like CJ+. It might be something to consider though.

If they decide to blow it up and trade Cousins, we'd actually be doing them a favor by also taking Gay at his age and with his contract. Keeping the 30+ year old Gay only makes sense for them if they keep the 27-year old Cousins and actually have a shot at making the playoffs (not likely).

It's so early, so it's hard to really pinpoint teams that will be looking to trade. So far, after only a handful of games, it looks like maybe Orlando, Indy, Washington, and New York could be targets.

In the west, the Mavs, the Kings, and the Pelicans would be good targets.

I wonder if NY would give up Kristaps Porzingis for the right price. That's a team that's built to win now. Melo, Rose, Noah... They aren't known to make the best trades.

Porzingis is completely out of reach.

BTW how about getting Zach Randolph for a cheap price?

I suggested that last year. I think he'd be a great veteran off the bench kind of guy.

he's been putting up some darn good rebound numbers in limited minutes. (I think about 15 per 36)

Rebounding has never been the issue. He can score and rebound with the best of them. He just doesn't play a lick of defense, and Terry isn't exactly a defensive motivator.

Ya I'm prepared for this rumor to resurfice. Wouldn't be surprised if the Blazers did have interest in him. Probably could get him for fairly cheap with out giving up the house for him.

I want Jabari Parker. Parker + Monroe..... but I'm sure they would want CJ.

I'm not big on Monroe for a few reasons, one of is that he has been very bad defensively his whole career and thats one of the big issues we have to work on. Yea he would help us out offensively in easy buckets especially in the low post but scoring hasn't' been an issue for this team. Then there is his contract which has a player option for this year that he will most likely use so its essentially a 1 year rental and with our cap situation we are't going to be able to afford to compete vs other teams for him because he sign as a FA with Milwaukie and he isn't going to have played 3 years there so I do believe we wont have his early bird rights and can only sign him for 120% of his last contract which with the cap expected to go even higher is probably a pipe dream.

I see John Henson had the DNP last night for the Bucks. His minutes are dwindling. Not a huge fan but others on this site seem to be. He would come cheaper...

If we're gonna make a move, I'd rather compile our assets and go after a star/semi-star, not a guy getting DNPs in Milwaukee. Wait for Boogie or AD. Hell, even Noel.

We have enough singles. Need a triple or HR sometimes.

SMH. Excuse the baseball analogy. Last time.

AD is wasting away on that team, but he's still young and I don't think they'll move him.

Seems to me the most realistic guys on the market who fit our needs are

Lopez
Noel
Cousins

But we would have to give up a pretty penny to get any of them. For starters, it would seem that CJ or Crabbe would be on the move. I think one of the reasons we re-signed Crabbe is that he can step into CJ's role if the right deal comes up.

Let the blasphemy begin!
