We might be in that same position with CJ.

For the record, I'd still like to see what these two can do under a coach with a better plan than "chuck it".

The 'weave/chuck it' offense. Reminds me a LOT of high school.

this made me laugh, not gunna lie Dame is a volume scorer from the one spot don't get it twisted. THATS why him and CJ got so many of those similarities. If Cj was running point he'd average just as many assists as dame this is a silly argument BOTH are score first players one is just more efficient at it.

Correct name spelling or not the sentiment holds true.

I disagree. I think Dame looks for his teammates more than CJ. He actually plays like a point guard. CJ is the very definition of "score first," because he is his first, second, and third option when he has the ball. There's a reason why we keep bringing in other ball handlers, because CJ doesn't have a knack for running an offense. Also, Dame performed just fine when he ran the team with LMA, Wes, Nic, and Rolo. He's a point guard. Period.

"True" or "pure" point guards are becoming less and less common. Spread offenses are moving towards distributing the passing responsibilities across the starting five--the ideal offensive unit would have five guys who can pass and shoot at least a little bit with at least one of them capable of pushing the ball into traffic, causing a collapse and making the correct pass. I think both Lillard and McCollum can do that.

I love McCollum but his passing/court vision is nowhere near Lillard or any other acceptable point guards level. It's just not. Maybe over time, but right now he's a score first, second, third, fourth kind of player.

For example, answer me this, how many lobs do you remember him throwing to Plumlee on a pick and roll? Ive started counting every times he misses an open Plumlee recently, and it ain't pretty. He usually makes up for it by sinking his jumper but still!!

He does usually make the shot but you're right, DAMN he misses some wide open teammates for easy baskets.

I don't think anyone would say that Dame is a pure point guard, but I think he sees the floor and at least tries to make the pass when the opportunity presents itself. CJ doesn't even try.

It's fine, CJ isn't a point guard. I don't think anyone would say he's a point guard. He's a pure scorer, through and through, and you want that in your shooting guard, but he's also a player that needs the ball to be effective. That's not the case with all shooting guards. Someone like JJ Redick would work very well next to Dame.

I don't think that's entirely fair. He's not as much of a passer as Lillard, but he's actually a pretty good passer. Over last season and this, he's got about a 20% Assist Rate (assists on about 20% of his teammates' field goals while he's on the court) which would be low for a point guard but high for any other position. (Lillard is generally around 30%.)

McCollum certainly wouldn't make a good traditional point guard, but as the lead initiator in a modern spread offense, assuming that the other players on the floor have some passing ability too? Sure. McCollum can't make the visionary passes that classic point guards can, but he can make the straightforward pass based on correct decision-making after penetrating. If you have the defense in scramble mode, it's really about making the right pass rather than the brilliant pass, to keep the ball pinging ahead of defensive recovery until a shooter gets an open look.

We have a week til Meyers and Moe can be traded without any restrictions. We can trade AC with his consent to anywhere but BK at the time as well.

Good time for AC to drop 30 and score in double figures in 6 straight games.

Most likely that means the market for him was very soft, due to his age and proximity to free agency. The deals being offered weren't worth as much as just playing out the season.

The dude is gonna get stupid money this summer. Not worth it at all.

He will end up at Brooklyn on a max deal.

INQSTT IS NOT A SOURCE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

Nobody said it was. Not sure why you need to all cap that like a fool.... I simply said here's a link that was talking about it. Take it fwiw....

4/150m for a soon to be 32 year old. I love me some millsap but man the last two years of that contract are going to look worse then any contract the last 15 years because of the huge money.

Millsap was maybe the best short term option. But as some already said it's not a long term solution with the salary he is about to command this summer.

It's not worth anything. It's a site that makes up bullshit for hits. If you want to read it, cool, but posting it is pointless because for the rest of us, it means literally nothing. But I'm the fool. Good one.

Zach Lowe saying Whiteside is available for a trade.

Knowing that he could have signed in PDX six months ago, I would have a hard time giving up a useful asset for him now. I would do something along Evan + Vonleh + a bucket of picks. Works in the Trade Machine but puts us in the Luxury Tax. But I think Miami could do way better than that.

I don't understand the relevance of this. Anyone could have chosen to sign in Portland--he didn't choose to, so trade is the only way to get Whiteside.

Sure. But he said on the record that Portland was his option #2. I just can't ignore it.

Signing him six months ago would have essentially been a "trade" as well. We would have had to renounce some of our free agents. With that said, if it costs us CJ, it would definitely sting.

I wouldn't trade CJ for Whiteside. Everyone else but he and Dame are on the table, however.

Plums, Crabbe and two 1st round picks isn't terrible. They could still do better however.
