Merged: Cousins traded to N'Awlins (for some Cajun shrimp)

I think Sacramento knew maybe they wouldn't get anything better actually. Maybe cousins really is looked at that terribly by other teams

They did it so suddenly that the offers probably never even had a chance to materialize.

Sacramento didn't get a whole lot for him. They must feel Hield is going to be the next Mitch Richmond for them. And who knows what that first is going to bring. The Blazers def had a better deal for them. If they didn't want to compromise the character of the team. That's fine, I get that. This GM needs to stay aggressive until the deadline and try to improve the team this year. I like Okafor even with the recent trade for Nurkic. They have the assets to make that deal. He has a nice future ahead.
So, if NOLA had enough assets to get Boogie OR PG3, then we should have enough assets to get PG3:

He is 23, and isnt exactly lighting the world on fire thus far. I think people just figured boogie would fetch a better prospect.
Sure. I agree i thought he could fetch a better prospect. I dont see Harkless as being a better prospect in peoples eyes outside of portland fans. He is more expensive and people have seen him play 4 1/2 years to Hields 1/2 year. Hield is still the "unknown" even though they are the same age.

Yeah hark doesnt make sense for sac, they need lottery tickets. Buddy could go ham theoretically. And he's cheap. But shit.

We have more assets outside of Lillard and McCollum than New Orleans has outside of Davis.

We have assets good for a rebuild (Harkless, Crabbe, Vonleh, 3 firsts).

New Orleans has oft-injured, expiring vets (Evans, Holiday), a pick, a bust in Hield, as well as 1 first and a bunch of bad contracts.

So if Sacramento is engaging in serious talks with the Pelicans, it shows that Cousins could be had without giving up Lillard or McCollum

Ah. Youre right. Sacrementos front office is fucking stupid.

This reminds me a little of Zebo when we was traded from the knicks. His talent is more than what is offered. I am not a huge Boogie fan but I would have given up our 3 draft picks for him and sent Ezeli back home.

Seeing what the Kings thought he was worth, we absolutely should not have. Could have gotten him for far cheaper by the looks of it.

Bad Dog! . . Very Bad Dog!!

[Rubs nose in post]

Hahahahahaha!

Dame is one of a very very few players that can lead Cousins. Lebron, but I don't even think Curry could. You put your belief in Lillard and make the trade for the best center in the game.

This reminds me of when Webber was traded to Washington to pair up with Juwan Howard. It didn't work.

Yeah I have my doubts as well. It will either be a disaster or a huge success.

If the make the 8th seed, it'll be interesting. The Pelicans perimeter defense sucks, but maybe they can slow the temp down to a grind.

Sactown is totally falling below us in the standings now, but NO should pass us, so I guess it's a wash.

I wonder with Magic helping to run the Lakers now if he did not kill any deals with his buddy Vlade.
The Lakers have a great pick and many young players........yet no interest?

Fantastic move for the Pels instantly becoming one of the league's elite teams while Sac cements it's place in the league's heirachy for the foreseeable future with yet another boneheaded move. Can't say I'm too bummed as a Blazer fan over a missed opportunity though. As opposed to PDX, small market NO seems to have a very reasonable shot at resigning Boogie as it's close to where he grew up.

They can't deal their pick until philly gets it. But yeah, this was a classic laker swoop scenario

You probably think I'm super crazy, but I'd rather have Nurkic over Cousins in terms of fitting in with this team. Cousins is a knucklehead for one, for 2 he's on a much larger contract, he's older, he won't stay here after a year anyways. From what I've seen out of Nurkic, he's a star big in waiting. Denver's GM has been doing a good job the last couple years outside of maybe Gary Harris and that might be too early to tell. Jokic looks like a Bird/Sabonis/Magic Johnson type freak. Only 21 and there's nothing that kid can't do. They got him with the 41st pick? Good lawd.

Yeah, but having $55M or so tied up in 2 players? And Jrue Holliday wanting a payday this summer? Ouch.

What a freaking steal for New Orleans! With Boogie on board their pick this year will likely not even be in lottery, Evans is an expiring and Hield has not been all that. The only real gain for Sacramento is that they will now fall away and get a high lottery pick for theirs instead of trading it to Chicago already this season.

Is it possible that New Orleans will be clearing their salaries to bring Chris Paul back in the Summer? I could see the prospect of playing with Cousins and Davis interesting to him. They don't have any real backcourt now outside of Jrue Holiday but that frontcourt, my God.

Am I right saying that Cousins will be able to sign that $200M deal at Pelicans too because those rights transfer with a player?
