Merged: Crabbe Traded to Brk

I liked Crabbe a lot, but not for that contract's price tag. Good move by Neil.

It's also interesting NO choose to keep the better defender/worse shooter of the two (Crabbe/ET).

Gordon or Anderson. Book it. Our bench just lost its best and maybe only shooter. If it's not Gordon or Anderson it's some other shooter. Not connaughton.

6th man of the year Gordon would be pretty okay with me.

So much for these contracts being untradable, eh?

Before we matched his contract, there would have been a slew of complaints we lost him for nothing, we got worse by losing a key player, that he was a big part of our overachieving season that we wanted to build on, etc.

It will be interesting to see if he turns into a star for Brooklyn.

Watch he will

I refuse to believe that PA cares about being in the tax for a year.
It's not the money, it's the other penalties that PA would be concerned about. Though the money matters, too.

So we didn't lose him for nothing at all. We got the benefit of playing him a whole 'nother season to see if we had something more special than he showed.

I can see it all now......Crabbe will have a better year next year (basically by default) than he had this year, all because he will be a starter on what will likely be the shittiest team in the entire league. And the people on this board who have always overrated Crabbe will be soiling their panties, convinced we actually gave up a star. Criminy, @KingSpeed would look like an all star playing for Brooklyn. Looks like it's gonna be another long season.....I don't care who/what they traded him for. We just dodged another bullet by getting rid of an overpaid underachiever......now let's dump Meyers for even less.

If its Crabbe for Gordon straight up, would be great, but Hark is part of this equation

We just got a $13 mil trade exception as @BLAZINGGIANTS mentioned.

That can be sent to HOU to absorb Eric Gordon's contract in full. ugh

So, we'd have been over the cap with or without signing Crabbe last year. But by retaining Crabbe, we create a giant aseet upon dealing him. I am praying that this exception is worth more than the RLEC.

This is why I am completely unflappable about trading Crabbe dude showed NOTHING last year other than if you leave him wide the fuck open he can hit 3 three's per game.

He is an asset money wise in possible trades. It was a good move extending his contract deadline. This gives Olshey more room for trade maneuvering.

Thats what I am thinking to, but wasnt sure. He might even be part of the Houtston trade process.

Every morning before I post here I say to myself, 'Today I will try to understand what's going on before I post some dumbass comment that later bites me in the butt.'

I don't always end up sticking to that, but I think I will hold off commenting on the Crabbe move until at least the end of the trading day.

This doesn't do anything to our MLE yet, right? We'd have to clear Meyers as well?

Well this is disappointing, I thought we could get some kind of value for him, but the market swung the wrong way and it's better to get rid of him than keep him at that price.

A one-way shoother with no positional versatility defensively is a skill set we can't support alongside Dame and CJ. The organization recognizing this is the best part of this move for me.
