So a guy who stunk in the Summer League and who had never played an NBA game was "on par" with Webster defensively? I'm wondering how that sheds a positive light on Webster's defensive ability.

Batum stunk on offense, he definitely showed flashes of his defensive prowess in the summer league. Webster I think you would have to classify as an improving, but mediocre defender (decent to good team defender, subpar man defender) before he got hurt.
