Some may not know shooter enough to know he is being consistent in his thoughts on this thread. Shooter is a rightous conservative . . . you may not agree with his position, but I don't think he is saying these things just to argue . . . this is who he is and is entitled to his thoughts without all this attacking, IMO.
That picture is kind of wierd. I get that HCP is a goofball and probably didn't mean anything by it, but the fact others are now using that avatar . . .is it really appropriate to see someone you admire pretending to get punched in the face right after the passed away. And then to kind of mock the in your face what you think why don't we all use it . . . this board is taking a step down.
And to first ban someone for something many others wouldn't get banned for and then shut down a thread doesn't sound like a good idea.
Many know I'm not a fan of mixum and even made the bet with him to keep him off the board in the summer. But reading this thread and seeing posters become more comfortable in groups, I've concluded there is a little mixum in all of us . . . using HCP's picture . . . are youn doing that because that avatar represents what you want or just trying to stir the pot? (ala mixum)
I'm showing support for someone who was being treated as though he was on par with Rudy, and having his relationship with Maurice (and in a way, his whole posting here) questioned and ridiculed.
It's obvious that John knew who Maurice was, worked with him, considered him a friend AND that Maurice knew this picture was being taken. It's so unlikely that Maurice didnt know about the picture and John just happened to have someone take a picture of it, that I actually feel dumber when people try to make it out to be an insulting, offensive picture where HCP is actually assaulting Maurice. Faux outrage, and that is what it really was, is the worst kind of outrage to me.
Kind of like how people will knee-jerk react to thinks the president does, and not think for a second that it's probably not what it was. Or thinking that a poster using a dorky picture of himself holding a paint gun, is threatening you. Or that anything HCP does can be taken as a offensive of insulting towards what was a friend of his.
If you spend 1 second going to his facebook page (or even looking or reading anything he posts here), you know that he is a good person who does not do things to purposely offend or insult people. Better yet, he's not about to do something to hurt someones feelings, or make them feel bad about himself. It's so obviously not in his character, that you'd have to be stupid not to see it. He's not going to post the picture I currently have as an avatar (and for future reference once I change the avatar, it's the one where HCP and Maurice as posing in a manner that implies that HCP is hitting Maurice) as a slight to Maurice, especially after his death.
I'm using his picture to show that I stand by him, and support his efforts here. If it means people are offended, tough shit. Many people on here have offended me, but I don't care. If it means people decide to block me, who cares. Those who block me are pretty much pussies anyways.
The only person who I will remove the avatar for is John. It's his picture, and he is the only one who I will remove it for. The rest can suck it.
Some people deal with death, in this situation, with comedy. At my grandmothers wake a decade + ago, my sister and I got the giggles because we were remembering some of the funnier stuff that she said. We also (as a family) have a picture of my great uncle wearing a shirt endorsing the use of marijuana, unbeknownst to him. When he died, I sent that picture to his grandchildren. He was the last person to promote or condone drug use, and his kids and his grandkids knew it. But they all enjoyed the picture, because they can laugh at themselves and stuff he did.
So deal with it.
