Merged: Oden out 2-4 weeks

If he broke a bone, he'd be out at least 6-8 weeks.

I think I already have, at least for the immediate future... I mean has he been injury free for any extended period of time since hi school?

My response is: who cares. the major injury was his knee injury, this injury last night was within the flow of the game and totally natural. he fell on someone's foot, it happens. To disregard him as a part of our future is stupid.

This injury BLOWS. This is fucking pissing me off. But I don't think he's going to be "injury prone", he's had a few minor injuries and a major one. The timing was bad of that injury. This is going to be a very rough month.

Let's be clear about his knee: It was a minor injury that they chose to treat with a major procedure to lengthen his career. It's not like he tore a knee ligament.

Well, he missed time in his college season due to a finger issue. I don't see how that's related, really. I don't believe in "random injury magnets." Sure, some people are unlucky, but there's no reason to predict further unluckiness.

"It's not my job to make it easy for you" in response to KP mentioning the 5 compound questions John posed right off the bat.
"How long until we can call him snake bit"
- John Canzono

In other news KP named Martell a starter making it clear that he will start when he returns.

OK, Greg Oden hasn't been injured, except for his knee. Oh, and the wrist. Oh, I forgot, he just twisted his ankle again in his first game.

I am not saying 'forget all about G-O.', Just that it might be time to adjust expectations. That doesn't make me a bandwagon fan... hell, I have been going to Blazer games since the Memorial Coliseum days. I am just trying to stay realistic.

Didn't you say that after the MF surgery? :)

Greg is just getting all of his injuries out of the way quite literally at the very beginning of his career:)

This is good news in my opinion. I think he'll be fine.

Man, I sure hope so.

I feel so, so bad for Greg right now, not for me or any fans. Imagine busting your ass for a year to come back and just get injured in the first game.

realistic how? by taking him out of our "big 3". Would you say he's no longer "untouchable" then? I'm sure there are a FEW teams that will take him off our hands.

Ridiculous. If you want to take him off our big 3, I'm almost CERTAIN OKC would trade Durant for him straight up right now.

Oden still has potential and is going to be a force in this league. If he injures his KNEE again, I'd be worried. Twisting an ankle or his wrist does NOT BOTHER ME WHAT SO EVER. It pisses me off his ankle is bad, but that's part of the game. It happens.

KP likes to sugarcoat everything into be a positive thing. Months ago he said Oden had all of his explosion and athletic ability back, which is clearly not the case.

I'm guessing 4 weeks.

Man, I'm bummed. On the bright side, this ruins the NBA's plan to feature Oden vs. "Every good big in the game" during the first month of the season.

I'm wondering how many TNT games involving the Blazers that they will cancel

Hopefully he doesn't lose the conditioning that he gained during training camp/pre-season...KP says he'll be in the pool in a day or two.

I think they're being conservative with estimates as they were with Roy and frye. My guess is he's back in 1-3, and I'd put money on it.

Oden needs to be healthy so he can get back into game shape - it's imperative. Being so raw on the offensive end of the floor right now, he needs all the athleticism he can get, and that starts with him losing weight and trimming down. His athleticism is what sets him apart from other NBA centers.

sucks ass for me, I'm leaving the country in 2 weeks for 3 weeks, so it won't be until December where I get to see Oden play again. pissed.
