How was the twelve foot hoop fake? And don't even act like Rudy could have dunked on a rim that high. Nor could he do Dwight's third dunk.

And the showmanship IS a huge part for the contest. This isn't like the dunk contests of a decade ago. If you want to win, you have to be entertaining and do something people haven't seen before. Whether you like it or not, it's a fact.

Rudy sucked, let it go. Maybe he deserved to be third, but that's it.

How is it cool that Dwight dunked on a 12 foot hoop? He's like 7 feet tall. Would have been way cooler back in the day if they would have let Drexler try the same thing (which they wouldn't let him try) because he is like 6 inches shorter than Dwight.

Showmanship has been made of a part of the dunk contest, which is bullshit. I'd rather see guys who make amazing dunks than guys who jump off his teammates back or a guy going into a phone booth for a superman cape.

Exactly. The whole superman shtick is retarded.

Howard is 7 feet tall fer fuck sake!!! And if you think that was 12 feet high yr nuts.

Never seen before?

You mean like put a cape on? Yes, how fresh and exciting. I haven't seen that since all the way back in 2008.

You mean like throw the ball from behind the hoop let it bounce once and jam it (on the 5th try)? You're right, I've never ever seen a guy bounce the ball off the floor and jam.

Ever.

And I've never seen a guy jump off another guys back since.... um... well like everyday in jr high and high school.

the problem is you're pretending that it was actually fresh and entertaining. You're calling it showmanship.

But it wasn't. The whole thing was fvcking stupid.

No he's not. He's 6'9. I wish people would stop repeating this stupid lie.

Perhaps the lie would quit being repeated if every official site didn't have him listed as a liar.

nba.com
espn.com
orlandomagic.com
lieopedia.com

All have him at 6-11.

I think we're all aware heights and weights are all exaggerated... But to assume the entire world is going to call him 6-9 when every place on the planet lists him as 6-11 is a bit much.

I've never had the opportunity to measure him myself, so I'm going to have to stick with what I'm told by people who have.

Then why do you call him 7 foot, when you admit that his "6-11" is likely exaggerated?

Howard was fucking horrible. Those first 2 dunks didn't even deserve a 40 that's why the judges got booed when they gave him a 50. The whole fucking all star weekend was rigged.

6' 10.25" with them.

I'm sure if Rudy was 6'11" he could of dunked on that raised hoop.

Is this an NBA board or an OCD help clinic?

Jesus Christ, it's not that big of a deal.

Hey, I'm on your side in this whole thing, your post just got me curious enough to look it up.

Besides, Dwight was like 18 when that measurement was taken, there's a good chance he's grown an inch or two since then.

What is the appropriate metric for judging a dunk contest?

To me, if a guy can do a dunk 10 times out of 10 WITHOUT PRACTICE and it's been done before several
times, it's definitely a bad dunk. That's why I didn't like Nate's jumping over Howard dunk, and wouldn't
have scored it high at all. Ditto for Howard's 12 foot dunk.

Dwight is a seven footer.

And you guys are ridiculous. I'm not even going to debate a bunch of Blazer homers.

I've covered the Orlando Magic for the past four seasons and I've seen him grow from the 6'10-6'11 he was when he entered the league to 7'0-7'0.5. I've met the guy and interviewed him close to thirty times since he entered the league. There's your source.

That's nice and all, but it's still not proof.

A measurement from a site will do. Everywhere I've seen has him at 6-11.
