My issue is why was Bolden so anemic at UCLA during the 15/16 season? He was a 20yr old freshman & his advance numbers were poor.
Bell's numbers were much better as a 19yr old freshman & have improved since then.
who knows, some guys take more time and maybe he was immature, in his video he talked about growing up a LOT in his year overseas by himself, it took him a bit to get going this last season but he appears to have taken a big step up, worth a good look IMO. I am not saying draft him, but I'd hope POR would take a close look at him

More on Bolden:

He won this year's ABA League Top prospect award, have a look at the winners of last 4 years.

  • Dario Šarić 2014 Drafted 12th

  • Nikola Jokić 2015 Drafted 41st

  • Ante Žižić 2016 Drafted 23rd

  • Jonah Bolden 2017 ???
Here is a video of him going 7/7 from 3 in one game - look at this guys range, he's beyond the arc by a decent bit on every 3

Looks better than the Finnish guy from AZ.

Sometimes it the college systems that don't allow players show there skills and the pro's is more freelance system and coaches kind give players to use there skills more on the court. College coaches has more tight reins on there players and that has hurt alot players where they are drafted. But then when they get to the pro's they sometimes out shine the higher picks.

Guys from UNC usually do this

Plus I think Bolden might be able to play the 3 or the 4. I like those type of players that can be interchangeable.

it is where the league is going, how bout taking him AND Jordan Bell and build a helluva small ball lineup!

I like Bell I wouldn't be upset if we draft him. But to land both of them your going to have to draft one at 26 and buy or trade a early in the 2nd.

Like who?
Jordan, Perkins, Jamison, Sheed, VC, Smith, etc.

They were all good in college, but the system they play hides them a bit.....maybe should have said UNC did...under Smith

Jordan was player if the year, but no one saw that coming

last couple of years, haven't there been geocentric combines of marginal 2nd rounders, d-league and euro bound players with multiple gms/teams having access?

Those guys were all obvious stars in college. They weren't hidden behind any system.

they are now possibly lower late first, earlier 2nd rd picks, IMO there is lot of incentive to move up rather that sit around as it equals more $$$ and they aren't close to "locks" like the top 5 or 10 are
Aminu and 26 to ORL for 33 and 35 is what I hope we do. Could probably take both Bolden and Bell there.

Idk how I've slept on Bolden for so long. I knew his story and that he was agile and versatile but I didn't know he could shoot like that.

Compare Boldens production overseas to Terrance Ferguson's

Bolden might be a top 20-25 prospect. Shit, I don't know.

@JDC what's your take?

So you're hoping we land Justin Jackson?

Bolden is far better than Rabb and I can tell that from only a couple tapes of Bolden.

Rabb is a more known name though, and was a higher rated high school prospect. That's the only reason I can think of as to why Rabb is rated higher on draft boards.

actually would you guys do #15 and #20 for #10 pick then select zach collins. then trade crabbe, aminu, #26 for richaun holmes, covington, #36 and #39 from the 76ers. then with those picks we can get sindarius thornwell and jonah bolden.
damian/turner/napier
cj/thornwell
harkless/covington
vonleh/holmes/bolden
nurkic/davis/leonard
Holmes and Covington are both better than Aminu and Crabbe and they make $23M less. PHI wouldn't take that.

I think a lot of it is that folks sorta get married to what boards like draftexpress say and don't think much more about it the - herd mentality, I believe DX had Maker buried in the 2nd rd early on and he came on strong late in draft process and was taken 10th, I hope we can use it to our advantage and nab him at 26, my guess is that he's going to move up a good bit but we'll see

GO!

Imagine if we came out of this draft with: Anigbogu | Anunoby | Bell

You couldn't contrast with what we have on the bench any more.

That's very true. Herd mentality is definitely a thing when it comes to mock drafts.

Sometimes I release mock drafts (with big board rankings included) on here and I try to make my own predictions and not follow herd mentality.

My top sleepers right now are Bolden, Patton, Wilson, Evans, and F.Jackson.

Overrated prospects are Rabb, Adebeyo, Anigbogu, Hartenstein, and Kennard.

I honestly think big school players become extremely overrated because of where they went to college. If Justin Patton went to Duke he'd be a surefire lottery pick.

I don't like Anigbogu. He has physical tools, but has shown no signs of having any offensive skills. I could see him being a Bismarck Biyombo type after 4 years of training. He's not worthy of a top 20 pick.

I really hope Jarrett Allen slips to 15, he looks like the best 5 in the draft from what I've seen.

We don't need a 5, and I don't think he and Nurkic can play together. Therefore I don't think he'll get much of a chance here.
