The rumor is that Giles had a great workout at pro day. He had really good bounce in his legs and the Blazer was really impress. He also moving up some of the mocks I been looking at so don't be suprise that he comes out to our 15 pick. I had him at 20 due to his past injuries and knowing that he check out 100 percent. But he hasn't wore his brace in any of his workouts so I see that a good sign. I also see us trading our 20 pick to someone and move in the 2nd round to select Hart. Our 26 pick I see us picking the big kid that they brought in for our workouts from overseas and stash him for at least 1 year.

I feel like we see a ton of this in every thread around the draft, but it seems to include just about everything. Broken jumper? Oh, that can be fixed. Mental issues? Those can be fixed. Range? That can be worked on. People always say an issue can be fixed if it is an issue for a prospect they like.
Lol. Broken jumpers can't be fixed easily. Athleticism and quickness can't really be improved. Standing up to tall on defense and settling for shots? That's easy to fix with good coaching.

To me a mental issue is a mental block whether it be on the court (Meyers) or off the court (Beasley) that keeps a player from reaching their potential. Generally speaking, I don't think those are fixable.

I think the mental block with Meyers is that he a gigantic pussy. Now I could be wrong with this guess but if you're right about mental blocks, that really isn't fixable.

Here rumor of a trade Blazers with the Nets:
Por out: Leonard Turner 20 and 26
Nets: Kilpatrick and Booker
I know it as a give up the 15 in the 1st trade but I wouldn't give up the 15.

I didn't say I agree with the rumor. Even though both of those players I believe there contracts runs out next year so that helps us in cap room to sign Nurk.

Don't need cap room to sign nurk. To save on luxury tax, sure but I'll let Allen worry about it.

A salary dump would be a chicken shit move by Neil.

Give away an asset (first rounder) to cover your ass over a guy (be it Turner/Crabbe/Leonard) that YOU signed to their absurd contracts? FOH.

And watch one of them be the Nurk of the team they are traded to.

I do know that it was different situations, but still... it'd be poetry.

I couldn't name the Nets starting lineup....don't know squat about Kilpatrick but he'd better be a stud to trade a first rounder, Turner and Leonard for...Turner to me is our second best defender.

I have no idea why you would pass on a guy like Fultz. Dude is about as clear cut a star prospect as it gets. Can't wait for this to blow up in Danny's face

Not much has blown up in Ainge's face. He's a pretty good GM.

On a personal level, I think Tatum will be the best player out of this draft, so I can't blame him for trading and getting a little value out of that #1 pick, for a say, a #3 pick

I like Kilpatrick a lot. Lets just trade Kilpatrick and filler for Crabbe.

Kilpatrick would instantly bring us toughness.

I'd honestly absolutely hate giving up a first rounder to trade bad contracts. There is no possible scenario in which that makes us better. It's always better to have a decently talented youth player and someone like Turner or Crabbe (while overpaid, they are still NBA rotation players) than have nothing except cap space we cannot use anyway.

My anti-salary dump rant...

The sole purpose of a salary dump is to save Paul Allen money... there are no salary cap benefits, since no trade would bring us far enough under the cap to sign a difference maker... and even if we did get enough cap room somehow, we have seen that no free agents will sign here...

This is one of the deepest drafts in decades and the thought of Neil giving a pick basically for free makes me sick. He chose to offer those contracts when he could have just let those players walk... he knew what the salary implications were gonna be at that time.

I like Neil, and I think he is great at evaluating young talent. He needs to use the picks and stock the team with as many assets as possible. A salary dump only to save Paul Allen money is not fair to Blazers fans that support the team.

I'm sick of local media guys like Jay Allen spinning it like dumping salary is a good thing. Losing assets for nothing can close any potential opportunities in the future to go for title during Lillard's prime. And making room to sign Nurkic is not an excuse... we have his rights and can sign him no matter how far we are over the cap.

So this next week or so is pretty much our offseason right? Not going to be players in FA. Trades are easier when draft picks are involved. All lines up for a pretty busy week for Olshey and co.

Question

Which center do you all think has the best upside in terms of defense and rebounding....in say 2-3 years?
All of these guys are projected to go around 15-26. Who do you all want? And which pick are you willing to give up.
There are some big boys out there and we need one of them.

Bam 7'.3" wing 9.0 standing reach 38.5" max vertical
Allen 7'.5" wing 9.2 stand 35 max vertical
Patton 7'3 wing 9'3.5" standing reach 30.5" max

Ike 7.6" wing 9.2.5 standing reach
Pasecniks 7'2" tall (No other measurements I saw)
Hartenstein 7''2" wing 9'1" stand reach

I am intrigued with the athletic ability of Bam. And I think he is gone by 20. Back up center is 3rd on my priority list, but I still hate to pass on him. It will all depend on who else slips to 15.
