Merged: The Draft Thread For Stuff About The Draft Including Thoughts About The Draft

Trade all three of our picks and Leonard and somebody else for LA. We win 60 games with a DAME/CJ/MOE/LA/NURK starting 5!

Let me get this straight: you want to give Pop three chances to add future Parkers and Ginobilis?

Heard the last part of the interview Dirt and Sprague had with Chad Ford today when they asked him Giles ceiling and he said Lebron James. I know he has knee problems(which supposedly got fixed and aren't problems anymore.) I know the Blazers history as well, but for a guy that could be this generations Lebron I would take him at 15 or 20.

Ford said Giles is projected to go around 22.

Ainge is likely going after Dennis Smith. Ainge might be the best drafting GM in the league.

Smith, Tatum and Zach Collins are my picks to be the best players from this draft.

The injuries scare me with Giles. A year ago Giles was considered a top 10 pick. The guy with injury issues seem to never really pan out

On the Vertical facebook show they said this isn't really the draft you want to have 3 late firsts. Big drop off after 10.

Woj says trying to bring an impact player around CJ/Dame/Nurk. Portland has shown an inclination to move up but haven't found anything.

Kings may be interested in a #10/LMA swap.

What in tarnation. Neil is scared to take chances, hence all the dumpster diving trades (sans Nurk - his hands were forced in that deal though), all we got was caproom ...spent on Evan Turner.

That's a horrible trade for the kings.

Be happy for once.

I disagree. I think there's guys who are projected to go early 2nd round who will have legit careers. Ojeleye, OG, Lydon, Cam Oliver, Dozier, Bradley, Motley, Bacon.....This draft is deep. A lot of those guys would have been 1st rounders last year.

Maybe it's that he is wearing No. 22, but I watch Ntilikina's highlights and I see a lot of Clyde Drexler.

I know we need bigs, but if that is there at 15, you don't pass it up. You accumulate talent and sort it all out later.
This is the right philosophy. We aren't winning anything next year. Accumulate talent

This mock draft on nbatv is pure comedy. TJ Leaf at 14? LOL
well as wild a past 2-3 "daze" as we've seen why not? and now PJ in NYC is goin off the reservation and looking to trade Zinger - just crazy stuff, lookin forward to tomorrow!

John Collins at 15.

"They're looking for a guy to set screens and roll."

Weakness......defense.

LOL, like Nurk?

Leaf and J Collins are THE two players I want to see picked by 14 so POR isn't tempted to pick them. Moreso J Collins.

I hoping one of Mitchell, Ntilikina or Z Collins drops to us. If none of those 3 do then I am warming up to Bam. Him or Patton. I wouldn't mind Leaf at 26 but no way he lasts that long. I really want to come out of this draft with either Semi or Jordan Bell or Bolden as well.

A lot to like...

Tom Crean and the rest of Wojs crew talked really highly of John Collins tonight on their FB live thing. Crean said he was the best offensive post player in the draft. Woj talked about his background (grew up in military family) and how impressed he was by his athleticism at a workout he attended. Also mentioned his age and rapid ascent. Crean compared it to Oladipo.

Crean was also very high on Leaf. "Highly skilled, just needs to physically mature" was the general point.

Crean also mentioned Jordan Bell, and how his game translates immediately.

Also an interesting take on Giles: one of the DX guys mentioned that teams don't really know what he is, since they've never really seen him play besides the one year at Duke. Teams aren't allowed to scout AAU games and he was injured by the time the all star games (McDonald's, Etc) came around.

Woj: Portland's priority is to flip those picks to try to move up. Nothing materialized yet but it could closer to the draft. They're the youngest team in the league, so I doubt there's much interest in using all three picks. You can maybe get at the Kings' 10th pick if you give them an established player, but teams in the lottery usually use their pick, so moving up is easier said than done. ..... paraphrasing

Yeah I think a move up is probably the first option, although they also mentioned trading those picks for an established player. I'd be surprised if we used all three picks tomorrow. in a trade up scenario, a trade wouldn't happen until a specific player got past a specific point imo. I'm sure not all teams drafting up there are open to moving down.

Thanks for this. I knew most of this about Giles, but it was news to me that teams couldn't scout AAU games. That's interesting news to me.

My expecatation is we use a pick or two, and then we move one pick for a future pick(s), and/or move a pick with a contract. I expect we'll be okay with half of what we did (likely the pick) and be ho-hum about the other half (the deal(s)).

Won't be surprised if we end up with John Collins or Justin Patton.

Man, I haven't been high on Collins at all. These dudes are changing my mind.

I am not high on Collins due to he can't play defense. My targets at 15 is Justin Jackson or Giles. Neither of them will be there at 20.

The more I think about it, Blazers should draft Giles at 15... you have to hit a home run to compete with Warriors and only Giles has superstar upside... but that's assuming we can't trade up or for established star

Does anyone know where I can watch NBA Draft in Europe? Any sites streaming it or something? I want to see this badly!

So Harkless, 15, and filler for 10?
