Merged: The Draft Thread For Stuff About The Draft Including Thoughts About The Draft

This is probably about the only reasonable possibility. However, I can't imagine that we would part with a pick for the privilege of creating a trade exception we'd be incredibly unlikely to use.

We'd be off the hook for any guaranteed portion of Ezeli's contract.

I also can't imagine that we'd part with a pick to save a million dollars--especially considering we spent nearly 3 times that to obtain the Memphis pick.

A 2nd round pick might do.

$1M cap hit is $1M cap hit. If it puts us over the LT, it wouldn't be a good thing.

I know it's easy to fall in love with shiny new prospects this time of year, but I really think adding Kadeem Allen and PJ dozier gives us a chance to secure that 1/2 rotation. It might take 2 years or so (I think Kadeem is almost ready to play now) but I really like both of them as versatile defensive complements to Dame and CJ who offer intriguing offensive potential as well.

AC is too limited and a guy I don't trust mentally in a tough playoff series and Turner's shooting is a serious issue and isn't talented or reliable enough w/ the ball in his hands to make for it.

Was reading some SAC boards they seem to be interested in a pick swap that gave us some cap relief

What would you guys say to

AC+Bazz or 26 + 15

For

Rudy Gay and no 10?

Gay is 30 has a 13m player option for next year and is coming off and Achilles (yikes, I know) but could be a really nice compliment to ET in the second unit. Probably wouldnt be 100% until playoff time but he is a very capable scorer and would be motivated to show he is worth a lucrative deal under the new TV contract. We give up a young and improving (lol) backcourt under contract and move into position to draft the forward we want out of the projected mid rounders.

Thoughts?
so can't trade ac till later. , leonard and harkless, Shabazz, and #15 and #26 for koufos, afflolo and #10 and #34. afflolo only a $1.5 cap hit if option declined day after draft

I'd take it. A choice between Collins, Ntilikina, and Markkanen.

You'd then have the choice of trading 20 and/or 34 ET away to a team like BRK. There are teams that would take Crabbe for free. That'd create $25M in cap space.

Aminu and Ed are tradeable too. $40M in cap space, easy.

Kennard seems to be slipping.

It'd be tough to pass him up at #26.

I still go Mushidi there though.

If we had #34, I might take a look at Tacko Fall. He is extremely raw but with a ridiculous 8' wingspan (that I think may be even a little wider) that is a whole knew physical dynamic for teams to deal with.

I'd take a flyer on him. He's a good kid too. I really want him to succeed.

Do you care about international play? I like Mushidi a lot but we'd have a Batum like problem when it comes to his Summers...

I can see Allen possibly being an Avery Bradley type player. But I wonder if we just don't buy a 2nd round pick to get him. Is he even projected to get drafted in any mocks? He is already 24 and although his shooting stats were not bad last year, he was not exactly a dependable scorer....in college. I would not mind him on the end of our bench though. Like you said he is a tough defender.

Seems like a good kid and I just can't get over his wingspan. You see what that reach does for Gobert in Utah. Now he's not on Gobert's level athletically but for a guy off the bench, he is a defensive presence just by standing in the key.

Question: If we get something like 30, 40 m in cap what do we do with it?

If you use the last 2 off seasons as a guide as to what NO will do with an imaginary $40 million in cap space.

He signs Vonley and Napier to max contracts, and then lets Nurkic walk.

Sign two-way players such as James Johnson, Amir Johnson, Thank Sefelosha, etc.

Could save some for next year by signing a guy like A.Johnson and Sefelosha for a 1 year contract.
