Merged: Who would you give up for Paul George?

Must get rid of 2/3 of Biebs/Turner/Crabbe

If we sent out #15, #26, Crabbe, Harkless, Bazz and took back Kevin Love and Al Jefferson next years salary would be almost exactly the same. Cle gets PG and Bazz, Indy gets #15, #26, Crabbe, Moe. Then maybe we add a future second rounder to Meyers to get rid of his worthless ass and save some money.

Bastard. I have been a raiders fan where i got to witness the raiders get smashed by the buccaneers

As a Niners fan, that Super Bowl worked out okay for me, as I got to see Jerry Rice (my favorite athlete in any sport) catch one more long Super Bowl touchdown pass.

But yeah, Raiders look pretty good these days.

Really interesting hearing Dan Dakich on Mike and Mike this morning. He's an Indiana guy, so he's probably seen George a bit more than any of us have (@yuyuza1 excepted). Called George a fraud. Said his leadership is manufactured and ineffective, and that he is a talker rather than a doer.

I thought the 'word on the street' where the little sayings my 6-year old neighbor girl was writing with her chalk.

There's not much leadership there as is. David West and George Hill (and to an extent Hibbert) were the ones leading that team a few years back. He's got #1 talent, but in mentality and intangibles, he's closer to a #3 on a championship team.

Which is totally fine here. We have Dame/CJ/Nurk. He doesn't need to be a leader.

That's why I don't understand his desire to go be the man in LA. He's not Kobe. That's not even to say that he has the same drive to win that Kobe did, but he's just not as good as Kobe in his prime. I'm not even sure if George is a top 5 talent.

Curry
Russ
KD
LeBron

Those are easily the top 4 in my mind. Who is the 5th?

Kawhi?
Harden?
Anthony Davis?

I would probably take any of those players over George. I think he's definitely top 10 but I don't think he's even close to being top 5.

I meant #1 on his team, not the league.

He's definitely not a top-five talent. I don't think anyone perceives him as such. A big reason Indiana had no shot is because he didn't make any All-NBA team, so they couldn't offer him the DPE, or super-max.

Wow, that's harsh. I wonder if this is just sour grapes from Dakich because George wants out of IND.

No, he's not, but if you also consider defense, he's got to be top 10 or 12.

He's not LeBron, nobody is, but he plays LeBron better than anyone in the league. He did it when LeBron was in MIA ad he did it this year in the playoffs.

Even though IND got swept by CLE, every game was close. He didn't quite match LeBron's super human numbers (32.8/9.8/9.0), but his 28.0/8.8/7.3 was pretty impressive considering he was going head-to-head against the best player on the planet.

And that's what makes Paul George so valuable. No one in the world is going to out play LeBron individually, but George at least has the ability to guard LeBron (and Durant) as well as anyone, and make him work at the other end, too. It doesn't tilt the match up in your favor, but at least it makes it less lopsided.

Then you just need the rest of your roster to outplay LeBron's supporting cast de jour. Unfortunately, George didn't have that in IND, not even close. His 2nd and 3rd best teammates in that series were Jeff Teague and the ghost of Lance Stevenson past.

Not sure which of the 100 threads to post this in, but it looks like CE may be out of the PG13 (and Jimmy Buckets) sweepstakes...

ESPN Cleveland: Windy on George/Butler: “Nope. Not happening. The Cavs were not generating enough trade interest in Kevin Love.”

The idea that the Cavs could command a top-five draft pick, especially in this draft, for Love always seemed implausible to me. I guess reality finally caught up with the rumors/reporting.

We are finally being mentioned, looks like Neil is indeed trying for PG13.
