I don't know if it's too much or too little to ask. But I remember when I blew my knee out in my sophomore year of high school football; I had absolutely no interest whatsoever in watching my team play football, and my watching games wouldn't have done anything to help them or me.

When Roy was injured this year he said he learned more about Miller and how to play with Miller by watching him then he did while playing with him. Even if he weren't playing Roy still learned things that lead to him making his team better when he did finally return.

He's been sitting in the lockerroom watching games because he can't bear to sit with his knee bent for long periods of time. I doubt he's learned much of anything from Camby just watching him on TV.

I don't have the game film. Not out here. I do watch the games. But, you know, my mom has DirecTV. And out here I can't get the games. A lot of times I try to get on the computer, get the text messages to my phone, the score updates, I'm asking some people, calling some people who are actually watching the game, you know, what's going on. It's difficult out here, my friends are like, the games are so late out here, plus DirecTV doesn't get those channels, it's tough. I'll find a way to watch it.

He could stand or have the Blazers get him a Phil Jackson style throne so he can watch practices. I think there are things he can learn from practice. Nate's instructions and defensive schemes to the team are going to be different with Camby here then they have been with Joel and Greg. Just standing near Nate and hearing what he's saying to the other coaches during practice can help Oden to see things differently.

Just noticed in that quote box that Greg says he does watch the games, then immediately says he can't get the games, says he relies on the internet/texts/etc, then says he'll find a way to watch the games.

Here is a 100% fact, and I'll give you my info to support it. The game that I bought tickets from mgb, I parked in the Garden garage. It was against Indy. Oden's bright red car was the first in the player's lot, and I know this because he drove it in his G.O. on the Go segment. Anyhow, my daughter and I left with about 5 minutes left in a 20 point game. Driving out of the garage ... guess which car wasn't in the lot?

Joel is an expiring contract with a team option, and by no means the future of the franchise. If Camby resigns, Joel will be cut loose.

1. A Phil Jackson type throne is not going to prevent him from bending his knee. 2. Having him stand would just be a horrible idea especially if a loose ball comes his way and guys go after it and run into him because he can't move out of the way. 3. Off with Joel's head.

Joel is in the second to last year of a contract with a player option.

I'll give you another fact. I 100% don't care, because Oden's presence at games or in Portland or his proclivity for watching his teammates play doesn't impact his ability to be ready for training camp one bit.

Isn't the only important thing how he contributes next season?

I've heard the whole he doesn't sit on the sidelines because of his knee thing, but I remember him being on the sidelines his rookie year after MF.

I think having tiny little holes drilled into your knee is a bit different than breaking your knee-cap and then having metal screws (I believe he had some metal screwed in for during the healing process) put in said knee-cap. Microfracture is harder to recover from, but I think pain wise sitting with bent knees is worse with a broken kneecap recovery.

My point is it is silly to complain about one person doing something the second person is doing but not complain about the second person doing it. If you want to justify your double-standard with pick position, then you probably already realize you're being silly and are wrong not to criticize Joel as well. Joel is pretty valuable to the bench unit, well health permitting at this point, so why is his same action not outrage worthy? Greg will be coming back to Portland - he even said they were just giving his knee a break right now.

It reminds me of the humorous outrage this summer that Greg was in Ohio instead of back in Portland. Clearly his play before he went down reflected he had made a poor, poor choice.
