I would care if it were somebody on my team. I actually don't care what is "best for Greg". I care about what is best for the team now and in the long run. And it is my opinion, that the team would be better in the long run if Oden learned how to play the game.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree. Rehab is a lonely and depressing process. It's much worse when you see your teammates practicing and playing together. Sometimes, it's best just to get away for awhile, especially when you're a mama's boy like GO.

I think when it comes to sports, you learn by doing. Sure, he can watch film until the cows come home. If he wants to see a game, I'm sure our video coordinator can e-mail him a copy. It would be great if he were from Oregon and loved hanging out here, but he's a midwesterner. When it comes to rehab, mental outlook is more important than being around the team. I want him happy and motivated.

Mostly, however, it just doesn't really matter to me.

Well, that's not true. You gave a subtle insult to posters who clearly DO care about this interview. So, at some level, it does matter to you.

There's quite a few basketball players, that I've heard from interviews and such, that don't watch a lot of basketball. And I've read lots of players rehabbing at home say they don't watch the games.
Indiana, Portland, Ohio, whatever. Rehab where you want to. I think Portland needs a few more sports teams, to divert a little attention the basketball players get.

So, to put this in a little perspective, this past week while Greg's been out of town, the Blazers have played on the road against Denver, Sacramento, and the Clippers. The team hasn't been having him travel on road trips, so he hasn't missed seeing any games live. The team gave him a chance to go home for a bit to rest up and visit his family. He's going to be back at least by the playoffs. Some of you are ripping him for not having his mom sign up for League Pass when he's just going to be there for a few days? Sheesh. Talk about much ado about nothing.

You people are crazy if you think players care as much as we do. They don't. They never have and they never will.

There's shitty players who probably watch every single game they can, and there's hall of fame players who don't give a shit.

Being pissed because Kevin Durant "might" watch more basketball than Greg Oden is fucking hilarious.

No, I agree. I said basically said the same thing about Przy a month ago after he reinjured his knee in the shower. This season ain't over with. The both should be here with their team. They are still being paid. It's bs this organization takes such a lacks approach to players that are hurt.
