Metrosexual?

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sasha:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't really believe in labels as someone else said before me. I like to look presentable, but for my own gain. I have more confidence in my self and feel more comfortable if I'm well groomed and clothed. Sure, it goes on to say that when you're in a club or in any kind of social gathering you're bound to get more attention if you keep your body healthy, well groomed, and wear nice threads that present your features more vividly. It's not something to be ashamed of, and you're just as much a man as the lumberjack next door. You're that much of a man because you have different understanding of yourself and you choose to exemplify it the best you can. I guess you could classify me the GQ guy, but with much less interest in designer clothes. There are things that every guy should better himself through and appearance is one. However, you shouldn't let it overcome you and let it change you into someone that you were not before because it might be the recent "fad" or because you want to boost your ego, as that is the most dangerous thing.</div>

Yup, I co-sign that. I completely agree with you.

I don't think it's possible for me to be metrosexual. What with my Mufasa-like beard and all. The term is kind of stupid anyway. As if keeping yourself looking nice mean you are less of a man, or something.

And I do have a pink dress shirt. It looks wicked with my black suit.

I don't think "looking good" and metrosexual are the same thing. Sure it's a big part but not all of it. Metros are into fashion way more than a normal man and tend to give off a homo vibe. I think considering yourself a metrosexual is like considering yourself emo or gangster or any other fad... it just makes you look like a jackass.

I wear designer clothes and try to look my best but i'd never consider myself a metrosexual. I'm too much of a slob and my morals are way too low to try to act feminine.

Are you trying to say I'm not a gangster?

How does wearing punk make you gay? If your not secure enough about your manhood where you think wearing pink makes you gay..you have serious problems bro. I have pink polos and dress shirts. I like to look good all the time and I take care of myself but you bet your ass I'm straight.

Not sure if this was directed towards me or I Miss MJ, but I only have a problem with pink when it comes to wearing large pink tees. I think pink looks good with black in any case (suit or striped polo's)...I just think wearing a bright pink tee to make a statement is unecessary. I don't think it's gay, just attention whoreish.

I hate pink tees. Pink dress shirts are fine by me but tees just look awful now. I mean it was ok before, but now it's too much.

I'm with you on the long tee thing. Any long tee looks stupid IMO.

Agreed. I hate that whole "gangsta" look that was in fashion a couple of years ago. I'd rather dress more proper...I guess you could say I have a preppyish/ginoish dressing style. Long tees are annoying. I especially hate it when newly turned gangsters who were nerdy guys the year before rock tees that are 5 x bigger then they are.

I'm a mix. If I'm going out I'll pull out an Abercrombie button up or a lacoste but during the day I'm all about t shirt with basketball shorts.

Agreed just plain bright pink is a bit much. Now if it were something like this kit top I'll take immediate exception. Only I'm not a U.S. Palermo fan.

Asdf, why owuld a straight man want to act gay? That makes no sense at all and I don't see the trend. Explain your logic in saying that.

well look at that show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, look how they act and dress, the only difference between those guys and metrosexuals is that metros don't putt from the rough.

From what I've heard most of the guys they put on the show really need help with their image and they seem to do a good job. How is that wanting to be gay????

lol seriously. Forgive me for wanting to look presentable when I'm going out to meet a girl or something.

^^LMAO that was hilarious but what does it have to do with this thread??

I just wanted to lighten the mood of this thread. Seems some posters aren't very fond of gay guys. Yea guys not girls. I mean of course, I would watch my back when there is a gay guy around, but other than that I wouldn't have anything against him.

That's hilarious.

I don't even honestly care if other people are gay or not. As long as a gay person isn't interfering in my life and making me feel uncomfortable, it's not really a problem for me...so why do so many people have such a big problem with it? What if a good friend of mine one day became gay? Would I abandon him as a friend just because he did so? Hell no. I guess I'd be surprised and might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but I don't think it's wrong to be gay, but it is wrong IMO when homosexuals try to thrust thier views on other people.

I think I wentoff-topic there but yeah, had to let that part out.

Yeah same here...however, I like to dress nice (not GQ nice, but preppy-gino nice lol) even in school days unless I stayed up studying the whole night or something. I'm pretty conscious about looks. If it's tryin to impress a girl, then of course it's time to bust out the GQ gear

Like if I'm going to a 15's(big hispanic thing) or a sweet 16 then you better believe Ima make that suit look good. Nothing wrong with that, just trying to look good.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Playmaker15:</div><div class="quote_post">lol seriously. Forgive me for wanting to look presentable when I'm going out to meet a girl or something.</div>

This isn't about looking presentable. Look at my previous post, I don't need to be labelled Metro to look good. I look good every time I go out, I am not obsessed with my appearance nor do I go to the extremes of facial make overs and what not.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting playmaker:</div><div class="quote_post">From what I've heard most of the guys they put on the show really need help with their image and they seem to do a good job. How is that wanting to be gay????</div>

I am talking about the gay guys on that show who do the make overs.

The difference between the gay guys and metrosexuals.

its like they say the clothes don't make the playa the playa makes the clothes lol

Do any of you have any gay friends? Because I have two. Both of which do not hit on guys unless they know they're gay. They act completely the same as any of my straight friends would in public. Most gay people I know act this way and I think too many people gain their perception of what gay people do based on television or the Internet much too often. Perhaps this thread should be closed to avoid more problems with those that defend/have no issues with gays and those that hate them.

I have no gay friends but I'm not a homophobe either. As long as their not hitting me then I don't really care.
