MEYERS LEONARD: NEW TRAINER, NEW SHOT, NEW OUTLOOK AS HE VOWS TO IMPROVE

He's going to come into training camp and be matched up with Nurk....if that doesn't break him, he'll have made the leap

Shit after summer league hes going back to LA and will be playing 1 on 1 versus Joel Emblid. I hope Emblid takes it to him. Knocks the baby teeth out of him

said the same shit about a year ago (and most prior years too), even made a mini movie about his growth. let's remind ourselves.....

“I’m confident where I’m at in my progression this summer. And, I feel healthy. I feel as good as I have in five years.’’

“It’s been rather frustrating for the vast majority of my career. I feel like I can offer a ton more, but I work well with confidence, and kind of feeling good, and I don’t know that it’s always been reciprocated,’’

“I understand we took two bigs (in the draft). It is what it is. That’s competition. That’s just the way it is,’’

then the tweet in the article has him shooting 3's.... He really doesnt get it, still.

I don't think the team would or should decide playing time based on seniority any more than they should concede losses just to develop a draft pick. They can develop in practice and earn their minutes. The best player or the best matchup on a given night should play. Period. I have a hard time imagining that's going to be Collins over Meyers for at least the first 10 games of the season. If Collins beats him out that quickly, that will be great. In the meantime I hope fans remember Collins came off the bench his entire one year college career. He's young, weak by NBA standards, and inexperienced. Meyers was a huge let down last season. Even Meyers knows that. Whatever else Meyers is doing this summer, I hope it includes twice a week sessions with a sports psychologist, because really that's his biggest problem.

At the end of the day, I want all of our players to exceed expectations. Even Meyers.

good post, but funny at the same time. You say you don't like "seniority", but Collins came off the bench last year precisely because of that, and you hold it against him!

Collins is a much better player today than Biebs was last year. If Biebs improves on his best season ever (which was years ago), then he'll start the season ahead of Collins. I'd be OK with that, but I'd be watchful to see if it wasn't just seniority kicking in.

The weird thing about Meyers is that he has the tools he needs to be a solid NBA player. He's got a good NBA body in terms of size and strength. He's pretty athletic. He has a good shooting touch and decent hands. The problem seems to me to be that he has an incredibly slow basketball processor in his brain. Once he catches the ball, you can practically see the gears turning as he runs down the list of things he's supposed to consider and do. By the time he's decided, too often he's too late to make the play he needs to. He just has zero natural instinct, or perhaps he's just suppressed them and gone to this mechanical approach. I don't know if he can change that at this point in his development.

Bingo. The areas where Meyers struggles the most are areas that you simply cannot teach. I'm afraid he's a lost cause.

It's like we bought a 40 million dollar sports car but the transmission gets stuck and the computer chip is faulty...hopefully several months worth of repairs will recoup some of that value.....but sell it quickly if it's running well come winter

It's weird to say, but I really think he needs to see a sports psychologist - his biggest problem right now is that he's messed up in the head.

Why would you wish that on a sports psychologist?!

Let's get real. No NBA player takes a leap from horrible to good after 5 years in the league.

To be fair, though, he's already had one good year in the league.

He's going to come into training camp and be matched up with Nurk....if that doesn't break him, he'll have made the leap

So...you're saying his contract will be covered by life insurance?

What I want is for Meyers to tear up his contract and say " I'll play on a 1 year prove it deal"! Because I Believe in myself".

He can't. It's against the CBA and the NBA Player's Association would never allow it. All NBA contracts are guaranteed. Even if he retires (non-medical retirement) he still continues to count against our cap.

BNM

Well then he should let me sleep with his wife to show me he's ready to be a better NBA player.

I am convinced that Butters is paying Jason Quack off. Jason is the ONLY one that reported on Butters "back injury" last season. Not one single word of it from the FO. Now this bull crap. I'M. NOT. BUYING. IT.....

Dude, the wolf ain't coming, stop crying to him.

Yeah. There was literally NO confirmation from ANYBODY... that was really weird. Not from Neil, not from a trainer, not from Terry. Not from another teammate. NOTHING.

I'm starting to think that he's worth the 10M a year, just for the jokes around here. He WILL be missed....
I'm sure we can make jokes about him if he played for another team. Sometimes jokes that hit close to home can be funnier but I'll risk it.
