MEYERS LEONARD: NEW TRAINER, NEW SHOT, NEW OUTLOOK AS HE VOWS TO IMPROVE

Ok ok
Easy deal for me. My black soul doesn't laugh.
Is it too much to ask for the team to tell him one three a game and no more threes unless he makes the first one?

Do they just not care that they are wasting whatever career he could actually have?

Rookie summer league Meyers had more NBA usefulness.

Looks like a nice couple

I am not worried about his offense game is the other end of the court he really suffers. He does all right when he match with slower center but what he don't do good reacting to coming off his man and on to another player coming to the basket and if get there he usually fouls. Great defense players see the game unfold in front of them so there reacting to what going to happen. Green is good at this and Leonard is real bad in those situation.

So now does this mean that it's crucial that the Blazers hang on to this guy now? How long must we be haunted by Jermaine O'Neal?

What I want is for Meyers to tear up his contract and say " I'll play on a 1 year prove it deal"! Because I Believe in myself".

Judging from the last time he believed in himself, even if he could do that, he'd just have another terrible season and Olshey would give him a new 4 year $40M contract and we'd be one year further away from getting rid of him.

I hope all our players show progress each summer... player improvement = better team. I can't believe people would rather their own negative dialogue we're right than see the team or a player succeed. Narcissistic much?

It's easier (and edgier) to remain stubborn than it is to admit you were wrong about something.

I mean sure, but talk is cheap. Lets see if he really improves after 6 years coming up of being on this team, not contributing much at all.

It's dumber and irritating to have a seven foot center who gets worse by the day talk about a new shot because he changes his feet placement on a three pointer.....instead of talking about a new hook shot or a new bank shot from 12 feet away on JUST PICK A FUCKING SIDE DON'T EVEN PRACTICE FROM BOTH SIDES!

Fuck it's irritating. Nobody wants him to be this bad.

I had a nice response all made up but you know what, fuck it. I'd rather take an ax to the back of the skull than to suffer through another season of watching Leonard air ball 3 pointers and let anything on two legs get by him defensively.

People seem to be confusing prediction with preference. We'd all like to see Leonard become an NBA superstar because it would mean the team would be incredible for the next 3 years. Our preference is that Leonard not suck. That doesn't mean we'd predict that.

How many "I'm going to improve in the offseason"s do you give a guy? For $2 mil/year, he definitely deserves more chances. However, he's earning $10 mil/year and needing more time. So, by breathing he's killing us - that's the problem.

As long as he's earning that much, some of us would prefer "I'm taking my talents to South Beach" instead of "I'm going to improve in the offseason."

Of course, we don't have a choice. His trade value is low right now, and will get a bit better a year from now. So, my guess is that Neil has 2 different deals in his back pocket both of which look something like: Biebs + (1 or 2) 2nd rounder(s) for $100K cash. Neil can do better next year, especially with escalating contracts, so he's biding his time.

I demand the mods to change the title to:

Scrublord vows to not suck as much.

"It’s why the Blazers coaching staff encouraged him this summer to not only workout, but engage in a lot of 5-on-5.

'I think the biggest thing for Meyers is he needs to probably get a feel of reacting to the game,’ Blazers coach Terry Stotts said at the end of last season. 'I think he needs to play a lot this summer and work on his reaction time on both ends of the court.'

Wasn't this obvious years ago, that Myers has no natural feel for the game and that the only hope was to put him in 5 0n 5 situations constantly and hope that it just sinks in after awhile. I know that I suggested this years ago; asked why they weren't playing him in the D league. I even suggested that it would be worth paying 9 ex-college guys to come in every night to the gym and play with him.

I remember talking to a couple of NBA guys and both said the same thing about ML. Not sure he really/actually understands how to play the game. It's why he's lost on defense. On offense you can be "told" where to go much of the time. Easy enough. Defense takes some sense, feel and awareness which he has none.

completely agree, but I don't think Stotts is less frustrated than we are...

Sometimes ML comes off, at least to me, as someone who liked playing basketball but wasn't super coordinated, then all the sudden had a growth spurt and was told he should play.

He plays a lot like a (really bad, slow and old) SG at times.

It's like we bought a 40 million dollar sports car but the transmission gets stuck and the computer chip is faulty...hopefully several months worth of repairs will recoup some of that value.....but sell it quickly if it's running well come winter
So... we call him... Meyers Lemon now?:auto:

They are so desperately trying to convince us fans that he will change it's hilarious and obvious that's what they are trying to do
