I was suspicious about Olshey from the word go, and this draft has me hating him. Both of these players are "shiny toy" kind of players - great measurements/verticals/workouts. You know, like Eric Bledsoe and Deandre Jordan.

Of course, if he can pull Chris Paul out of his ass, I'll be ready to forgive.
 
I am officially more excited about Elliot Williams than either of our first rounders.

Bledsoe was the 18th pick and has shown flashes and still has great potential. Jordan was the 35th pick and is a solid player.

I like Leonard but BPA was clearly Harrison Barnes at #6.

So give him the low picks and let other people make the high picks.

Actually, I'm not even sure Olshey picked Jordan (before his time)? What he did do was match a ridiculous offer for him.
 
You can play with the term "BPA" all you want . . . this draft was dictated by needed positions.

Everyone knew it before the draft (Blazers are drafting a PG and a big with thier picks) and that is how it played out. Might work out because Blazers really need a PG and a center.

Really? Because I'd say Charlotte picked need over BPA at #2, and pretty much every team in this draft picked the 'BPA' at a position of need, instead of just whatever the 'BPA' means, regardless of position.

I agree. But admit there is a little comfort knowing the Blazers now have a PG and Center.

I don't know how I feel about this draft. But I think I'm going to start tuning out Olshey a little and just watch what he does. So far, in his first huge test, very run of the mill anyone could have done that type of feeling.

Leonard wasn't red-flagged by any team.

So I'm not too worried about this.
 
Blazers surprised me twice. I thought they would take Barnes over Lillard. I thought they would take Lamb (or one of several other guys) over Leonard. I think they picked 'need' over BPA, twice, but maybe they truly think it was two guys in the same tier each time, so pick for need. Dunno. I hope they picked right.

It seems like about a month since I said this before about Leonard, but the Blazers absolutely need to hire Joel as either a player or coach or player coach to instill the Joel Way of the Warrior onto Leonard. I think he has a ton of potential. Now lets make a man out of him.

Very good post and repped. I actually wanted Zeller as the center, but I like Leonard's upside. This "BPA" stuff is getting out of hand, IMO. Does "BPA" mean that a team should draft a SG 5 straight drafts because that's the "BPA" on their board? Sometimes, you have to give up a bit in order to fill a need. I think the "BPA" thing, which is relatively new, is a byproduct of so many fans playing fantasy basketball.

I agree about BPA. People also think there is only one correct list of BPA, and it's always just their opinion of it.

It not from posters papag, it's from Olshey. He was adament about two things in his post hiring interview (BPA and Kaleb), he said BPA many times to the point of saying postion is not a factor, age is not a factor, it comes down to BPA. So yes, according to Olshey, you pick 5 SGs as assets and use it then to trade later.

Not saying it isn't right to pick on need, but if BPA idea is out of hand, that is result of Olshey saying it was how he drafts, not the board or fantasy basketball.

I'm a realist.. It takes a lot of work and a lot of luck for small market teams to become elite. I'm of the opinion that slipping into the playoffs and losing in the first round is not much better than missing the playoffs and getting a lottery pick. How good did you expect us to be next year if we drafted the guys you wanted?
