If this drags into training camp, we will be faced with a tough decision of playing Dame or not playing Dame.

If we play him and he gets hurt, we're sunk.
I envisage us treating him like OKC treated Al Horford.

Risk vs Reward.

The risk of Dame getting seriously hurt isn't that high. Worst case, he stays on the team until next summer.... so what?

Lets all remember, if Cronin works a deal with Miami, and they are sending Herro to a third team for a first, Cronin will evaluate which player(s) from said third team might be diverted to Portland. Maybe Cleveland would be interested in Herro for Allen. Just spit balling.

Should be both

Agree and I bet it will be both. However if for some reason we can only take one, I would slightly lean towards Jaquez. Jovic has loads of potential on offense, but Jaquez seems like he could be a good 2-way player.......assuming he improves his 3 pt shooting and I see no reason why he can't (he shot it well 2 years ago)

Maybe throw Little in the mix to Cleveland & bring back Boucher to Portland. Balances payrolls a bit better that way.
That sounds great too. Would clear the forward decks for Murray and Walker to both get minutes.

Where were all the teams lining up for Durant before he was traded?
Portland could have gone full 2nd apron and jumped into the KD mix, but nooooo... Jody Allen wants budget baby Blazers, and we get to watch an exciting NBA training circuit with a Coach that can't draw up inbounds plays.

I've seen no evidence that paying good players is a problem for this team.

We typically have overpaid players...

KD was as committed to going to the Suns as Dame is to going to the Heat. Even if the Blazers had had the assets needed to make a legitimate offer for KD, which they didn’t, there’s no way that acquiring him was an option. Blaming Jodie makes no sense.

I'm not blaming Jody, or the decision to rebuild a struggling Blazers team. All the horsecrap the front office told Blazer fans during this teardown has been exposed, accepted, and is disappearing behind us.

I just wanted to sneak in jab that Billups can't coach too good. Check out the inbounds play @2:35 of this video. Coach Billups forgot which basket he was defending.

This is classic bs. Miami STILL wants to lower the offer. With this tweet, they want us to discuss if Jovic is better than Jaques and forget about Caleb Martin and Orlando Robinson.
None of those 4 players is proven to be a prospect. They all can be busts.
Miami "offer" is still really, really shitty.

Sounds like Detroit is interested in Herro. Wouldn't mind taking a shot on Wiseman with a 1st round pick.

Again. Both was initial offer. And it was to little. Whoever made this "small update" can go f himself.
No Wonder Cronin doesn't want to even look at that direction. They trying psychological tricks learned from VHS tapes.

well, the Chronicles of Aaron Fentress is an idiot added another chapter:

It couldn't be that Miami doesn't even have a fair package to give and are still low balling us with an offer that is half what Dame should be worth, since the guy is a top 75 all time player coming off the best season of his career... nah.

The fact is if the Heat make the necessary move to get their 2024 FRP, if they put that pick with their 2028 and 2030 FRPs, along with Jovic and Jaquez, and can find a team willing to give a first rounder even with some protections but very likely to convey. Then they could actually have whatever players Herro would bring back and just send us Lowry's expiring contract. I want them to take Nurk but they probably wouldn't have to in order to get the deal done.

Something like this (Orlando is said to be one of the teams high on Herro):

I can see why some of you prefer as many draft picks as possible, but I am hoping that the return on Herro is better than Kyle/Goga.
I would be willing to give up 2 of those 4 picks in order to entice a 3rd team to give us someone better.

I don't share that view

to start with, Portland is not going to get a player 'better' than Herro from a Herro trade. They might get a little better fit, but the talent is just not going to be good. And by that I mean that players like Herro, or Ant, or Powell, or RoCo, or Aminu, are simply not good enough to alter the trajectory of a team. They are just role players and Portland has spent the last 11 years (and longer) proving that coveting role players is mostly pointless

I'd rather Portland roll the dice on a future draft pick than go for a role player that might be available for a Herro trade. There will be one available in any event, to match salary, hopefully on an expiring contract

I truly believe you cannot create value when there is none. This talk of finding a third team for Tyler Herro so Dame can end up in Miami is like Joe telling Pat, fleece somebody else for us
