Dave Ramil, when answering a question about Tyler Herro's value, went with the race card, because "he is white'. He is insufferable. Thank goodness Wes, tries to real him in. Herro is a "fringe all-star player". Fine, It should be REALLY REALLY REALLY easy to get a simple 1st round pick for him to help get this deal done. Are there really 28 teams that are undervaluing him? Thankfully, the have guests like Howard Beck and Matt Moore to bring a level of sanity to that homerific show. Just one of the worst in the whole Locked On realm.

At the end, they were proposing keeping Martin, Jaquez and Jovic and not having to give up any of them. They seem to think Lowry, and bad picks in 5-7 years from now and some other garbage is just fine.

Yup this is where we're at. The deals aren't getting better. They're seemingly getting worse.

Maybe Dame can use some of his influence to get Riley to put together a decent offer for Dame. Otherwise, send him I don't care where - to whomever offers the best package. Dame can then pout and ask for a trade all over again but that is not our problem, it is his.

Honestly the way this is playing out I think the karma gods will be visiting the heat this season, maybe a Jimmy acl or something like that.

Maybe from the media and Miami fans. But I doubt they are getting worse from Riley.
That would risk having the Blazers walk away knowing they tried in good faith and got nowhere.

I actually think this is what the whole scenario is about. Marketing/Managing his brand/ Relevancy.

Personally, I think once he saw Scoot in person (and realized Joe was going to keep him) he saw a decade younger, more athletic, defense playing Alpha dog who plays the same postion as himself. Rather than become a mentor, he realized, sooner rather than later, Scoot (or Shaedon) was going to become the best player in Portland. His image is all about Dame Time. Not 'Third fiddle Dame' back-up to the 'Sheesh Brothers'

So he can either sit back, honor his contract & play with the young guys whilst slowly slipping from being 'The man' or he can force his way to a big major market where he can market himself to a much broader audience, in one big last cash cow move for his career, all the whilst with a chance at winning a Chip - which, again, improves his relevancy & marketing.

.

I think this is a strong possibility. I think it is human nature to feel that way after being "the man" for so long for one franchise. Not sure Dame felt that way, but I think most players would. If he had won a championship it might be different, but I can see a player worrying that the young guys might look better at certain things, and that could sting a bit.

I don't think they are getting worse. Just that MIA homers think because Dame's agent said what he said, that they don't have to give up anything because he can't go anywhere else.

Miami must think Portland is just full of dumb fuck inbred hicks. I can’t remember ever hearing of a deal for a superstar where the equivalent of Duncan Robinson was the second best part of the asset package.

Butler was a FA. This was a S&T deal to get him to Miami.... Not the same situation.

I’m getting sick of Dame and his representation. He’s going out worse than any Blazer I can remember, including LA. It seems spiteful.
Man, maybe you weren't around for the Batum/Bouma Ndiaye scenario? With the added benefit of the TimberTrolls message board and Dwight Jaynes carrying on the good fight to the (fans) enemy?

I think the fact that the Cleveland/Heat trade and the OKC/Heat/Spurs trade were finalized is either an indication that this could really drag on. Or we're going to get some really shitty deal.

I'm sorry Nate, but I've been convinced for months, maybe years, that if Portland ever started shopping Dame they were going to get a shitty return. Seems inevitable. And the scorched earth campaign Dame is waging is making it worse. There's some bad blood in this situation

Butler was a FA coming off two lackluster seasons where he also had locker room issues. He was considered poison by some at the time. Miami was his third team in a matter of months and like his fourth team in a little over two years.

I don't really get the white flag here. I think the PR was has turned in the Blazers favor. I think the bad blood all is on Dame's side. And I'm not sure why someone would presume we can't get a good return on this just because we've trauma-bonded over the Blazers and are pre-emptively setting ourselves up for the worst to happen.

I mean if I was a guy (lol) getting divorced I'd wanna go to Miami for my first year as a bachelor

Lets all keep in mind what an albatross those last two yrs of Dame's contract might be - 58 and over 63 mil the last yr, I think he earns the next two yrs, but those last two could be very ugly as he will be 35/36
