I don’t think that is any real verified talent. The guy is a total project.

I've thought that Ainge would love Herro and Robinson...if I were the heat I'd package their young guys and Jazz picks for Dame in a 3 team deal...get Miami or Utah to take on Nurk at the same time.

Chicago as a third team maybe?
Herro there, Lonzo here? CHI only has picks from 27 onward (aside from getting our own 24 back). And the disabled player exception doesn't travel in trade. Man, I like Caruso, too, but doesn't make sense unless Ant is going out.

Yeah, let's trade for the kneeless guard who will never play again. Very Portland.

You're thinking of MIN...

In seriousness, what's the issue with taking Lonzo with some picks? Similar to Simmons, without the drama. And only 2/42M left (when he picks up his player option). That's why I said maybe not, because CHI doesn't need to panic-dump him.

Joe Cronin manages the team’s Salary Cap and oversees its amateur and professional scouting. An important part of the team's player evaluation, roster construction and strategic planning process, Cronin is active in the NBA Draft, trades and free agency. Entering his 16th season with Portland, Cronin joined the team as a Basketball Operations intern in 2006. In 2010 he was promoted to Pro Scout/Salary Cap Analyst and in 2014 he was named the team’s Director of Player Personnel. As a result of his continued dedication to the team, Cronin was the 2011-12 recipient of the Trail Blazers' "Unify People in a Championship Culture" award. Prior to joining the team, Cronin earned his Master's at the University of Denver, where he also worked as Graduate Assistant for the men's basketball team.
Make that salary Ben Simmons, replace one pick with Claxton, and take Nurk, and I might do it.

Blazers get:
Simmons
Claxton
Jovic
JJJ or Clowney
3 FRPs picks, unprotected
3 swaps

Blazers send
Dame
Nurk

Did I get it right?

my guess is that the Nets value Claxton more than they do Herro (just like Portland). I don't believe there's any chance the Blazers can get Claxton in this trade

and Portland should get a swap from Miami; not convinced they'd get one from Brooklyn

and it's my hunch if the Blazers attach Nurkic to Dame, it will cost them a 1st coming back

Dame is worth 3 frp on his own. If we are taking on Simmons contract too, we need to be compensated by BK with another frp, Finney smith, or both.

I was listening to Howard Beck on the Nets Locked On podcast and they were talking about how Brooklyn has to be really careful because they have Simmons making a ton of cash for 2 more years, they have Bridges, they have Johnson starting his new contract, and then they have Claxton as a free agent next year. And that's assuming they don't take on Herro.

well, they'd save 21M over the next 2 years in a Herro for Simmons exchange, so they'd probably be happy about that

maybe if Portland took back Simmons AND DFS they'd send Portland an extra 1st, but I sure don't like that long term salary. That would also be Portland taking back more salary than they are sending out with Dame; that's bad IMO

but I still can't see the Blazers being able to offload Nurk in a PDX/MIA/BKN deal

The proposed trade that would have sent Kevin Garnett to Boston, agreed to in principle by ex-teammates Kevin McHale and Danny Ainge, was taken off the table Thursday after Garnett got word to the Celtics that he doesn't want to play for them.

Garnett, according to sources close to the situation, is hoping for a trade to the Phoenix Suns if he has to leave the only team he has ever played for.

"The Boston trade isn't happening," Garnett's agent, Andy Miller, told ESPN.com's Chris Sheridan. "If a trade were to happen, that's not a destination that we're interested in pursuing."

Suns general manager Steve Kerr told the Arizona Republic that he has been talking with the Wolves about acquiring Garnett, but said it would be "tough" to pull off.

It appears that Wolves management -- McHale and owner Glen Taylor -- is prepared for the first time to make a deal that would end the Garnett Era in Minneapolis after 12 seasons. Taylor, according to Wolves sources, has informed Garnett directly of that change in philosophy.

Here's the deal. Brooklyn cuts a shit ton of long term salary so they can pay guys and gets rid of headaches. We get a shit ton of picks and have the potential ability to flip Simmons, Grant, and DFS at the trade deadline if any of them are playing well. OKC is rumored to want Caleb, unclear if they'd be willing to give up the two picks but they can't use all of those and the Clippers one probably won't be very good. Fuck Miami but they get Dame.
