Yes, no player is perfect. That is a great line of thinking to justify claiming that the worst finishing starting center in the NBA would be a great finisher if our stay player that has the most gravity in the NBA and is arguably the best at running the pick n roll in the NBA is off the team.

I didn't like the fact that Dame didn't push the pace and had shitty court vision (or was hell-bent on passing the ball where he wanted to pass it).
That doesn't mean he was a bad player overall.
 
With Nurk, it all depends on the value...

With Dame leaving, I'd be fine to get, basically neutral value for him, but if he's costing us a decent asset, I don't think it's worth it. Guys his size are becoming scarce in the league, so there's some "floor" value for him there. If we can get value for him this offseason -- something many around don't believe -- then great. But if not...

I'd put him on the Jerami/Ant plan and showcase the hell out of him in the first half of the season. Let those 3 score as much as they want to try to drive their value up. Each will have value to contenders at the deadline and we'll likely be able to turn what's currently being thought of as a negative asset into at least something of a positive, it's not like his contract is untradeable.

Half of one season won't poison the well culturally, even if he's unhappy.

Every decision made over the next year or two needs to be focused on adding assets, period.

Dude just look at what he’s posting on Twitter. He doesn’t want to be here. If we don’t trade him he’s going to pout. That’s why Denver paid us to take him. The guy has a history of being a toxic malcontent.

He didn’t have shitty court vision. Ever since the OKC shot, he’s been better at passing out and is one of the top PnR guards and shooters. He’s been at ~7.5apg the last four years, which isn’t terrible. And he takes care of the ball.

Running the pick-and-roll effectively is only proof of being able to run the pick and roll effectively. Nothing more.

Either he has shitty court vision, or he has difficulty anticipating and reacting to what the defense will do.
Remember the end of the 76er game? Dame dribbled directly into traffic to the right of the hoop and had no idea Melton was following him.
He waited to make a pass/move until he came
to the defender waiting for him. At that point he was screwed.

How exactly Dame is making Nurk happier? I am asking, because maybe someone will finally tell me, how Dame makes players better and why everybody in the league wants to play with him.

Over the years some silly threads here were asking if Blazers are better without Lillard.
Team wasn't better, obviously, but were players happier? Idk. Was ball moving?
I mean, Dame is hell fun to watch really, but I personally don't have fun playing basketball with guys like Lillard, CJ and Melo. I don't think any player has. It is f boring, when all you do is standing and watch those friends play ISO and you only doing hard job. No fun.
And people tell me I'm wrong, but I think that was the case with players like Hart, Powell, Covington, Harkless. Maybe I am wrong, but it is just from my perspective. I have no fun playing with Dame type of players.
Now, maybe let's see if Nurk can play in Billups scheme (Dame couldn't) and the trade him. He can play some defense, he can rebound, why would we ship him now?

I think the general point is you're making a lot of assumptions off of a couple tweets. Dame and Nurk are friends, as you said, so it would stand to reason that Nurk wants his friend to be happy and feel respected.

How many years did Dame do all the right things while posting cryptic crap on Twitter?

A couple tweets shouldn't be enough to sell low on Nurk.

And I don't like this "friendship culture", that Blazers had with Lillard, as I explained in recent post. It haven't made any good for the team in my opinion.

Doesn't seem like he's better w/o Dame.

you took that quote way out of context....I was saying that as an example of trades that I thought significantly overrated what Portland could get back. I don't believe the Blazers will get 5 first's and a 'good' young player. I think they are more likely to get back 3 first's (with one being late in the draft), a prospect or two (with low ceilings), and major salary filler like Simmons

curious...where did you get those numbers?
 
Nurk needs to improve his % at the rim, but overall, he's TS% isn't bad. 2% less than Jonas Valencunius for example, who is one of the better offensive big men in the league.

I am not sure we have much of a choice but to keep him. Nurk is still better than anyone else we can get at center before the next season. If we can get value for him then I think you are right we should move him. But I don't think we can. We are not getting Claxton, and it's not like we have a young center on the team that is ready to take over as a starter

Badji looks like a decent backup center. We need one more plus maybe Nurk, and as frustrating as Nurk can be, he does have skills. I am ambivalent about what to do with him this summer. But IMO I don't think "he has to go", especially if we end up with Ben Simmons at forward, an excellent defender who can't shoot. We would need a center on the court who can score.

The problem is those two are viewed as having terrible contracts. Ainge usually does not take on that kind of handicap. As players regardless of contract, however, I think you're correct.

Funnily enough, Goodwin was Lebron's agent, but was fired in 2005 for Rich Paul, Mav Carter and the rest of the "posse", who formed Klutch in 2012 with Paul as the frontman.
 
This whole thing is bullshit. Lillard and his agent don’t have the right to pick one team and say he must be traded there. And they don’t have the right to tell other teams that Lillard won’t go there. They have effectively shut down every other team from even making an offer, and forced Cronin to deal only with Miami. And I say fuck that. Let Lillard sit out a season or retire right now. I don’t care if we get nothing for him.
