Joe folding. Jovic is a good piece

OK good, I was afraid there might be a legitimate reason. Personally, I think the only player Miami might hold out on is a player who can help them win this upcoming season.....and that is Caleb Martin, who although I respect as a player, is lower on my want list. (Based on age and contract) I would want two players with potential (Jovic and JJjr) one big contract (Simmons) and 3 first-round picks.

The more I think about the picks in the distant future, the more I am ok with it because they will probably be used for trades in a couple of years anyways.

If we have Miami crammed down our throat, we should be getting anything not nailed down. If Joe fails to extract every last bit of value from Miami, when we're being force fed that crap team, I'm going to be furious. To me, that would be the ultimate failure on his part and he would need to go immediately.

Cronin has been sabotaging the roster for almost 2 years, why change what lands the best draft pick?
He discarded a player that needed to be discarded with his big salary (CJ), that is not sabotage. Eubanks was only signed for 2.5 million.

Doesn't really make sense if we still have Grant. After we eventually trade Grant, I could see Jovic having a role.

I also really don't think Murray is a power forward. At all.

Yeah, remember Jovic just turned 20. He got a little bigger in this last year and is still filling out. I think with Portland he would get backup minutes this year and then be ready to start by 2024.

I agree that Murray looks like an SF.....at least for now.

Miami and Dame are more desperate to get a deal done than us. Who cares if we don’t get a deal done soon? We don’t need Dame to play for us, he doesn’t hurt us by sitting out. But Miami is depleted and needs to build a new roster for next season. Dame is 33 and can’t throw away one of the last seasons of his prime. He has 3 more years on his deal. We have all the leverage right now. Wait for Dame to relent on his one team demand, wait for Miami to get to September with a half-built roster start to get desperate. It’s coming.
All cogent #FACTS. Absolutely correct. The only way we fail here is if we act out of desperation. Dame is hurting his trade value, but not as bad as taking a shit deal from Miami. I'm fine waiting until the trade deadline or even next Summer if necessary.

If we trade Dame to Miami and we end up with less than 2-3 picks, Jovic, and Jaquez, I think Joe should be fired.
I agree 100% and I feel fairly confident he knows that. This is actually a rare scenario where greedy Jody and her rather impressive patience (waiting to sell) might really help us. Jody doesn't have an emotional attachment to the team, she wants to see us have a product she can sell which means getting the best value for Dame. I don't think Jody gives one single fuck about Dame and his feelings, and in this case, that's a good thing.

I think you guys are unrealistic on the "value" of a 33 yr old Dame (33 on July 15) with that massive 4 yr contract. I'll be happy to get out of his deal with a couple decent prospects and 2-3 picks, I hope we get better offers but won't be surprised or "pissed" if we don't, just want the dude GONE

I'm thrilled you're not part of the FO if you just want him gone. Sure Dame maybe has less value than many think, but 2-3 firsts and a couple of prospects is pretty close to the board consensus which seems around 3 first and 2-3 prospects. I think you're slightly undervaluing Dame here. He's the best closer in the League and among the greatest of all time in that category and this doesn't show up on most stat sheets.

Orlando Robinson just scored 36 & 11 in the Miami SL game. Put him on the list and trade Lillard today!

The Ricky Williams trade. "I keep Bam and Butler, you give me Dame and Nurk, and you get 7 pieces of everything else on the roster."

On the flip side, Miami fans will be furious of Riley doesn't screw Portland over because they feel Portland has no other legitimate trade partner.

I don't think Portland is in a major position of strength in this situation, at all.

I don't know. The spectrum is from Beal on one end (who had a no-trade and a Dame-sized contract) through a Westbrook, a Kyrie, two Hardens, a Mitchell and a Durant, to Gobert. I think Dame's definitely on the latter end of that curve.

Riley is a master of complicated trades, the one he pulled off to acquire Butler involved 4 teams. We actually helped him in that case.
When you have an experienced successful gm, they can drum up deals through agent relationships.

I totally agree Riley could, if he felt motivated to.

The difference between this situation and the Jimmy Butler one is that Jimmy hadn't publically demanded a trade to Miami and had his agent tell other teams he wouldn't report to camp if traded anywhere else.

Count me as someone who would play hardball, to the point of letting Dame sit. If I were the owner, that would be my directive. It's possible though that current ownership will demand the opposite from Joe. In which case, Joe would take the heat for following boss's orders and caving.

If this is what happens I am certain that is because the vulcans signed or pushed for it.

Let's not pretend any dame trade can be done without approval from ownership

If the Blazers don't play hardball and stick to their guns now, every other franchise will shit on us forever more. The Blazers need to make a statement if they ever want to be taken seriously and not have every team in the league think they can take advantage of us in every negotiation, forever.

Yeah, but the good gm's can see through that positioning. And some look at it as an opportunity to jump in, confident they can convert Dame.

Agreed, no atom in Dame's body is capable of sitting out

If be best return for us means Dame ends in Philly, don't tell me he will complain playing with the MVP.

Dame himself mentioned he wants to play with Mikal and PG13 and OG. . Send him to Miami or Philly or Boston or Brooklyn or Totonto or LAC. . Whichever lands us best return

Durant on another level, Mitchell much younger and much cheaper, GOBERT massive mistake and overpay that has many GM's getting a big time wake up call, and with all that this new CBA and uncertainties
