This rumor has made it's rounds to other forums now as well.

I thought it would be good to try and set the record straight here. Dame was not eligible for a no-trade clause, since it was an extension.

Then looking at the footnote 1

Who knows what was actually said during the extension negotiations, but I thought it is important to clarify that Dame was not even eligible for a no-trade clause.
Thanks for clarifying and as for that rumor, regardless of what Joe did or did not do, Dame is being selfish and showing disrespect to the fans who have been around long before Dame was born and don’t want their team ruined by his hissyfit. Dame used to be about class. Now he’s letting a disagreement with Joe hurt the fans. Throughout, love him or hate him, Joe has made his decisions based on what’s best for the TEAM. Dame is all about himself. Building a winner around HIM. Doing what HE wants. Don’t take your anger out on the fans, Dame!

We signed him to a Supermax. That’s what players should remember. Do we really want players that think “if I sign with Portland, they’ll trade me wherever I want whenever I want”?

I asked Fentress if he thought the players would be more upset that the Blazers weren't giving Dame what he wanted or that they were giving Dame what he wanted to the detriment of the players that still were Blazers.

Like they're going to care what a guy who didn't want to be their teammate wanted and was submarining his own value on the way out, making it harder for them to compete. Yeah, I'm sure they were more worried about Dame and Keljin Blevins' feelings.

Also, building a winner is a different animal in Portland than it is most elsewhere. Portland can't rely on on big name free agents coming here. Dame said more than once there are guys that want to come here. I think he has finally learned the opposite. No one is coming to join him.

The Blazers instead have to rely on lucking out in the draft, making smart trades, and not overpaying players. The last part is becoming ever harder, as players are getting greedier and expecting more and more money in their salaries.

Well. There goes someone's podcast.

Which is why Portland has to jump at the chance to get Ayton and OG. Sure, both could be gambles, but both could be incredible. Gradey could be a great add as well.

If it were Cronin that said that, people would say he lied ....

No, most elsewhere is the same as Portland.
Bruce Brown left a championship Denver team to get overpaid by Indiana.

This is insulting if true.

I really doubt that we leaked that. This could be Miami trying to set the market so they don't get outbid by more than they could counter. The idea being that Masai or whoever sees this doesn't need to go way way higher... I don't think it will work if there really are multiple other teams but if it's just a two team race between Toronto and Miami then it could have a negative impact on the return we get from either team.

I know it works that way for us fans, but I'm very skeptical that Masai is altering whatever he is offering because of a tweet or story from Marc Spears.

There are really only like 4 or5 destination franchises...
Lakers
NY
Brooklyn
Boston
Golden State
Miami?
Who else?

Trying to run the reverse Uno card?

'oh—we would of course also include jovic and jaquez, we just meant that two picks and herro were INCLUDED.'

Yeah definitely important to clarify. That nugget comes from Eric, who has also noted numerous times that Lillard wasnt eligible for one. So he's not sure if Lillard asked for one not knowing he couldnt relieve one and got that answer from Cronin or exactly how that originated.

It just comes across a little disingenuous that you pass along that nugget without the HUGE qualifier that Cronin did nothing wrong in not granting him a NTC since he wasn't actually eligible for one.
You sharing inside knowledge that Dame wanted one and Cronin said "he didn't need one" comes cross very one sided without pointing out that fact in your initial post.

We have receipts if you want. Eric stated that qualifier every time he stated it. Forgot that caveat in my statement. The one thing we do well is know the CBA :)
