I can see someone is dubious that the position on abolishing age of consent laws has evolved.

I see that she is opposed to gay marriage, but that's not an anti-gay diatribe. Lots of people (wrongly, IMO) believe marriage to be between man and woman. It's even been enacted into laws all over the place.

I didn't take what she said to be anti-gay, but rather opposing the gay agenda as she perceives it. For example, she doesn't want to see age of consent laws done away with, hate crime laws, religious liberty overruled by courts, and so on. Not unreasoned positions. Not ones I particularly agree with.

My point is that she may be an idiot, but what people are saying about what she said isn't very truthful.

Just to be clear. I'd add that I support marriage for anyone who is of age and wants it. The Libertarian position says extend the same rights as marriage. I'm not sure what they fully mean.

I'm not seeing the anti-gay tirade you claim was there, though I have no doubt she opposes much of what gay people want (and deserve).

I get it that there are people who have the point of view she does. My guess is in the hundreds of millions in the USA.

Yes, they may think the sexual partner isn't good enough for their beloved child because that partner is black and is there really any better reason than that? We must preserve that right as sacred. Parents always know best.

Currently, the prosecutor, not the parents, decide. There is at least one such prosecution per year, and who knows how many threatened prosecutions and plea bargains to avoid it.

If that's what the parents want to use, so be it. I don't believe that there are very many boyfriend/girlfriend cases prosecuted unless there is an actual rape involved. I mean forcible rape, date rape, etc.

From what I see, the vast majority of statutory rape cases are 25 year old men raping 12-16 year old girls.

I'm against rape, are you?

The media reports only the worst 5% of crimes, the top of the pyramid. For every 25/12 case there are a hundred cases that are much closer calls, that many Americans wouldn't prosecute, but that prosecutors would. The legal system's unforgiving, hateful values are not those of at least half of Americans. Just go out on the street and ask, instead of depending upon the controlled media.

Sit in a hearing room, where all defendants are living at home for months, awaiting their trials, and you will see scared innocents who committed the most trivial of so-called crimes. Like a student peering through glasses who sold his friend some cocaine. Or a logger who had a tussle with another one. You will see the 90%, the Big Fucking Deal cases, that don't make the paper. Nowadays, being a first-time offender means nothing to prosecutors, but it still does to the public.

Sticking to those top-of-the-pyramid crimes, eh? Talk to ordinary people on the street. Half of the males are felons, many for some pretty trivial things. (Like fishing without a license. Guy I met did 2 days in jail, but got a felony, since the judge could have given him a year.)

Conspiracy nut is what I think everytime I read a Libertarian say that a big country can function with Big Business making the decisions. That would require quite an incredible conspiracy. Your theory won't work in the real world.
