So...who thinks we're getting snow this weekend?

The least we can give him is a qualifying offer of $8.5 mil.

Unless he takes on less money because of some loyalty factor, GO as a Blazer (or possibly for ever) = done

OK. You lost me there. So where does $8.5 mil come in if nobody would ever take the risk?

If the best offer 29 GM's will offer him is some one year deal for like $2M, are you saying we can't match?

Let's just not talk about this anymore. :(

Something interesting to notice is that Richard Steadman (my knee guy) in Vail is doing the surgery. Gee, do you think GO's team might have a beef with the Blazers' knee guy in Vancouver?

I'd be willing to bet that GO's reps are not pleased with the way the Blazers have rehabbed him.

Is anybody surprised by this news?

The guy is fucking DONE, and this franchise is obviously cursed.

Did Paul Allen sell his soul to befriend Bill Gates?

Oden will only be a restricted FA if we make him a qualifying offer, which for a former #1 pick is ~8.5mil. If we don't make that offer then he becomes an unrestricted FA, and we can't match an offer for him then.

What kinda rehab was this guy going through where he now has to go through MFS on the other knee?? WTF.

Are any of you going to argue with me on whether or not he is injury prone now?
In any case, feel bad for the guy, example of why 50-year old men shouldn't compete at that high a level.

Oden's agent almost must accept the Q.O. at this point, no questions asked. It doesn't matter, though. He is Sam Bowie x1000 at this point.

On the bright side, after last year, this year, and the lockout year next year he should be well-rested.

barfo

Stupid post. I don't think you even give a shit at all about the Blazers.

I doubt the Blazers will extend the QO at this point, considering it'll be over $8 million.

Reluctantly, I must give up on Oden. He's almost certain never to play another game as a Blazer.

BGrantFan, it's highly unlikely that we even offer the QO. We shouldn't

I wasn't posting on here when he was drafted, so pardon me if i don't remember you saying that.

Master Shake's post was totally uncalled for. Why are some of the most offending posts on this site made by moderators?

Ah, I see it in the CBA. Although it says here the 2010/11 qualifying offers were $6.4M for the #1 overall pick from 4 years ago. So I'm not sure how it could be possible with the likely lowering of the rookie scales in 2011/12 and the new CBA how anyone is guessing that will be $8.5M. I'd guess more like $6M-$7M at most.

But either way it's moot. Looking likely that we won't make the offer and will let him fall to unrestricted status then. So makes sense now.

I really don't know why they didn't go to him in the first place. I will have to get a second surgery on my right hip (27 years old) and I immediately looked up the best hip specialists in the country, one of which is Dr. Philippon at the Steadman clinic and I will be seeing him later this month. It's pays to have the best of the best take take care of sensitive surgeries (hip arthroscopy in my case).

I just feel sick for the kid. I doubt many people on this board would hold up as well as he has under the same circumstances, under the same media and fan pressure, especially at the same age.

How the Blazers training and medical staffs are still employed is beyond me.

Who the fuck are you, and why this post in this thread? Regulars here have been debating Oden's health for a long time. I thought he wasn't dependable in terms of injury. Doesn't mean I want to gloat right now. I am sick for our city right now.

BBert, you two posts say it all for me. You have to feel bad for GO and Jensen and Medina should join the population of November's U3 report.

I'm going to refrain from posting anything more tonight. Not only because it's not exactly a good day to be a Blazer fan, but because people are reacting emotionally and that never goes good.

As a little kid I was convinced that my will (I was sending the victory vibes to the team over the TV waves) was what put the Blazers over the top to win the championship... why doesn't it work anymore?
