I also find it interesting that the CEO is going on 1080am rather than "Rip City Radio" to explain the situation. Maybe this is a further foretelling.

1080 has a local show from 12-3. Rip City Radio broadcasts a national guy during that time slot.

More armchair quarterbacking, McGowan gets paid a bonus based on how profitable the team is. This move takes the cost of producing Blazer games and puts it on Comcast. Comcast is not going to hire some big name broadcasters. Everything will be done on the cheap.

I think it's more the way it was done, and what the cause of it might entail.

If it's because the trio made too much money, that doesn't bode well for things imho. Not that they need to spend big bucks on the guys, but who is calling the games can make a difference if someone watches it or not (that and being able to actually watch it).
 
This just smacks of all the other annoying people that are moving to Portland and telling the locals what Portland is and what it is not.

This was a great city before you elitist bastards moved here. We don't need transplants to tell us what Portland needs.

thats what I fear. I respect the need to be profitable, but at what expense?

Im guessing it was a complete shock to them as well. I hope Im wrong but somehow I doubt it

On a selfish note this really bums me out because I already hate this time of year waiting for the draft and free agency to start and now it has an even more negative undertone to it. I dont like the idea of something like this kicking off what should be a great summer.
 
So the ominous question that has yet to be answered - were those three the only guys to lose their jobs?

HCP has been MIA since this news broke.
