I am sure you know this but Neil doesn't run the financial side. Your comment makes it look like you could be saying that even though I am pretty sure you are not.

If you've listened to wheels and tone... Wheels can do a game all by himself. Tone would have these long-winded answers and we'd miss complete plays because of it... so Wheels can do it by himself.
 
For a franchise that acts like they want to do things in the best interest of the fans wishes (i.e., sucking up to fans), this sure comes out of left field and probably not a popular decision by most fans.
 
Mike Barrett would be fantastic for the PAC-12 Network, but I imagine he'll have better opportunities. He'd be great at OSU, but Mike Parker has that job on lock-down.
 
I did notice that the article said that Antonio was granted a license to grow recreational marijuana, so I wonder if that played a role. Maybe Mike and and Mike are joining Antonio?

It's not that we liked them... it's that it came out of NOWHERE... and seemingly for no reason.
 
The timing of the Blazers' broadcast shakeup is noteworthy because their 10-year contract with television partner Comcast SportsNet Northwest expires after the 2016-17 NBA season and the team has been plotting its broadcast future for months.


Comcast, which leans on the Blazers as its flagship partner in the region, submitted a new contract offer earlier this year during an exclusive negotiating window. But the Blazers — long frustrated by Comcast's lack of distribution — have been fielding offers from other potential partners for weeks and it's possible they will move in another broadcast direction. For nearly a decade, Blazers games have been unavailable to satellite television subscribers because of national distribution disagreements between Comcast and DirecTV/Dish, leaving a large percentage of Blazers' fans in the crosshairs of a corporate kerfuffle.


As the Blazers ponder their next move at a time when more and more households are "cutting the cord," the franchise has entertained offers from both traditional and nontraditional broadcast partners and seems to be open about the future of its broadcast. The team has until July 1 to select a new partner.

Just because Tone wasn't very good, doesn't mean Wheels should be alone.
 
Harvey was pretty terrible. Should have been replaced long ago. I would have kept rice, ditched Barrett personally. But am not nearly as upset as many here.
Also feel like McGowan has done a great job. Firing the mike's isn't going to change my mind on that.
 
Understand the Tone decision, but don't get the decision to get rid of the Mikes.

Why not? I can see he can carry a broadcast... Tone added nothing... I forgot he was there half the time. The only time I knew he was there was when he talked too long and we missed a play.

My only real issue besides the fact I don't like change, is that he is conducting a national search. Does he not get how "localized" Portland fans are? My guess is that they'd want "one of their own" calling games

Because Wheels gets SEVERELY depressed when the team is doing bad. It's basically unlistenable when he's like that. They've got to have someone to balance him out when things aren't going well.

So? I LIKE that he's like that. I'm sure a lot of others too. I like knowing our broadcaster cares. We'll both get out of it, so it's okay. Sports is all about the ups and downs, anyway. Don't need anyone to balance it, enjoy the ride! Makes the .9 calls even sweeter!
