Exactly. The organization was running HIGH in the PR department after getting to the 2nd round after the huge player departures, Damian is quietly becoming a world-known Superstar, and the outlook for next year was "what tweaks can we make to contend against the Warriors?". This has destroyed all of that.

I highly doubt Comcast Sports Net will have any impact on who the next broadcasters are.
 
ANYWAY... I am fascinated to see who they bring in. I think that the fears about the broadcasters being brought in on the cheap are reasonable, but until it happens it's more pleasant to think that the franchise has something better in mind.

If that's the motive then McGowan is pretty darned stupid given that Blazers Broadcasting is on the hook for next year's salaries for Barrett and Rice whether they work or not. Seems like if it were a penny-pinching move, they would have waited until after next season to cut them.

The guy I'm worried about is Wheels. Without a sidekick to calm him down, I'm a little worried that he may stroke out the next time the Blazers have a scoring drought.

If they pry the Utah Jazz crew, I'd be thrilled...I think they're the best in the league and the least biased.

Why the heck do so many of you prize "least biased"? I don't want some boring tools broadcasting the game and not being at least somewhat in the tank for the Blazers. I fricking hated watching the national broadcast of the Blazers-Warriors series in the second round. No humor, no real knowledge of the team, and totally ignoring botched calls by the refs. Yuck.

I want to like Wheels' broadcast. I really do, but man, when he goes into whine mode he drives me nuts. Besides, broadcasting on 620 am is about like listening to your best friend talking to you on a 1960's vintage walkie-talkie. Annoying as hell as they fade in and out as you drive.
