Darko Milicic's days in the NBA may be coming to an end.

"The NBA for me is not the way that I want to be," Milicic tells AOL FanHouse. "Looking forward, the stuff that I'm looking for is for me to play and for to me enjoy playing. I think right now the only spot for me is Europe.

"Because growing up and playing basketball, I needed the ball in my hands. I used to create for myself and I used to create for others. I used to play a lot. That's the kind of stuff I'm looking for. And for me to get that in the NBA right now, I don't think so. And I've got to be real."

Milicic is making $7.54 million this season and will be a free agent July 1.

Re: Milic Done with NBA

Darko was killed by expectations. Everyone expected him to be a great player when he was drafted #2 back in '03 behind LeBrick. When you don't like up to expectations, it can shatter confidence in a heart-beat. When you don't have confidence, you're not going to play well. I think the best thing for him to do is to go back overseas. The people he'll be playing against will be closer to his talent level and he'll actually have the opportunity to play consistent minutes, something he never really got to do here.

Also, I think Larry Brown never using him during his tenure in Detroit didn't help his cause, even if he knew how much work he had to do before he could be a formidable NBA player.

Who the hell signed him to get a 7.5mil contract?!?

He also didn't have the kind of mental makeup you would have liked. At one point in Orlando he actually looked like he could be a pretty-good starting C for a team, but once he bagged that contract the dude just regressed. It has nothing to do with not having the ball in his hands. He just stopped proving that he warranted those touches.

Anyone else find it ironic funny that over-sized never-was Darko who the Knicks don't want anymore sounds a lot like undersized has-been AI who the Knicks also don't want?

Also, anyone else think Darko will find happiness playing in the Metropolitan Belgrade YMCA rec league? I do.

And, both were coached by Larry Brown.
Has anyone ever seen Darko and AI together? I have a theory they are the same guy.
