I don't believe they rewrote the story. Why would they?
If you go to that link now it is dated January 27, 2016 10:55pm
If they didn't change it why did they change the dateline, hmm?

A group in contact with the occupiers, calling itself the Pacific Patriots Network, urged supporters to “stand by” as it urged peace and gathered more information about what was happening. “Cooler heads must prevail,” the group said in a statement.
They do often add to existing stories as things progress.
They're not going to substantially alter something like "these guys are militia" without also posting "article updated to remove these guys are militia because ..." (somewhere near the bottom).
The facts as they are in reality are that these people are loosely affiliated and protesting a real wrong done them by the government. Some militias might lend their support to the cause, but none actually have.
Your article still doesn't mention the word "militia" even once.
It does mention one militia organization:
A second man cooed to the camera in a singsong voice, “What you gonna do, what you gonna do when the militia comes after you, FBI?”
Robert "LaVoy" Finicum died when militia members were stopped on an Oregon road. Finicum told the Associated Press in early January that the occupation of a wildlife refuge was "intended to be peaceful." He also said, referring to the rifle in his lap, "I'm not going to jail."
The void of official information about the incident has been filled by unverified videos circulating widely on social media among militia supporters.
You are both quite pretty.
You are both quite petty. One of you does this on a regular basis however which is pitiful.
Whoa... this are getting a little weird in camp.
It's a four legged sleeping bag surrounded by trash with a soundtrack!
Yes, no one would ever remove a quote from a story during a rewrite.
Similarly, we have no idea whether they had guns on them when they were stopped on the highway.
DennyWorld is such an interesting place.

...seems like there are two narratives as to what actually went down
I'm 3 mins in but according to the witness they refused to listen to the commands of law enforcement to turn the car off and exit the vehicle, then told them they were going to talk to the sheriff and drove off. If cops have their guns on you, you don't ignore them and try to drive away.
The first quote is from an occupier at the refuge referring to themselves as militia who could go after the FBI instead of vice-versa.This is good stuff and all that. I see Fox News calls them militia in all their stories. AP doesn't, nor does Reuters.
The question barfo was asked was to produce anything that showed the protestors IDENTIFIED THEMSELVES AS MILITIA.
“There are no laws in this United States now! This is a free-for-all Armageddon!” a heavyset man holding a rifle yelled into a camera that was broadcast from the refuge Wednesday morning, adding that if “they stop you from getting here, kill them!”
A second man cooed to the camera in a singsong voice, “What you gonna do, what you gonna do when the militia comes after you, FBI?”
But on Wednesday afternoon, one of the group’s recently arrested leaders, Ammon Bundy, urged the remaining occupiers to “stand down,” leave the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and “go home and hug your families.”

Civil disobedience.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_disobedience
Civil disobedience is the active, professed refusal to obey certain laws, demands, and commands of a government, or of an occupying international power. Civil disobedience is a symbolic or ritualistic violation of the law, rather than a rejection of the system as a whole. Civil disobedience is sometimes, though not always,[1][2] defined as being nonviolent resistance.
The first quote is from an occupier at the refuge referring to themselves as militia who could go after the FBI instead of vice-versa.
Feel free to think otherwise as you would prefer your toe to toe with barfo goes round and round some more.
You also said the article wasn't edited to take out the word militia and you asked him to show you the word militia in there even once. You even did a screenshot to make your point. You guys can call it a tie and kiss and make up for all I care.
They drove towards the road block in front of them. That's not civil disobedience.
LOL indeed!LOL
The point was to show the protestors calling themselves militia. Barfo posted a link that didn't even have the word "militia" in it once.
That's hilarious.
Civil disobedience is a symbolic or ritualistic violation of the law, rather than a rejection of the system as a whole.

Without civil disobedience, the civil rights movement would have been stopped in its tracks in the 1950s.
In 1968, anti government protesters flocked to Chicago to picket the Democratic Convention and took physical beatings from the cops, refusing to obey their orders.
Some people are willing to martyr themselves for the cause. Witness the Freedom Riders.
It is civil disobedience.
Sounds like a rejection of the system as a whole.
Trying to run from the police is not symbolic or ritualistic.

Uh huh. Driving a car at a police roadblock is civil disobedience.
Here is the twitter account for Ammon Bundy's lawyer, https://twitter.com/cmichaelarnold?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author You should send him this colorful interpretation of the law.
Refusing to recognize the police's authority is symbolic.
Yeah, Nixon and Daley thought the same things of the 68 convention protesters.
The protesters were actually violent, too. They threw rocks and bottles and baggies full of urine and feces at the cops.
