Correct. As @Harry's Raincoat noted, the only advantage of the buyout is to give the Blazers a bit more room to make a lopsided trade.

Yes but it's trying to make a square into a circle or however you say it. I think a much better option would be to use a Dame/CJ/Frazier rotation at guard for most of the game. I think any combo between them works better than CJ at PG

Yes it is, we have a very good roster in terms of talent and depth. If Stotts is finally able to play more flexible rotations which would probably be the case anyway we could be into a very interesting season. Not just Frazier. We have several interesting big men, Harkless should be a pleasent surprise according to the reports and our backcourt even with just Dame and CJ post the Memphis series is going to have some fire-power. I don't think we're contenders but believe we could be good enough for playoff-contention.

Even if everything breaks our way and we somehow become a team in playoff contention the purpose of next season is not to win games. We aren't winning a title next year so it's about developing players for multiple years from now. Neil Olshey and Stotts have said as such. Your posts lack a perception of reality.

If you think McCollum will look good at PG, then you think the Frazier vs. Pressey choice will have no effect on Lillard's fatigue and injuries.

I don't think McCollum will be any good at PG. I think the Frazier/Pressey player will get a lot of minutes, especially when Lillard misses games due to injuries from being The Man on offense.

Meanwhile, all these rookies with promise will need more than one team before making the league. We're the sucker team. As Lee Harvey Oswald said, the Blazers are just the patsy.

Only if they don't develop into useful players AND we aren't able to use any of them in trades. I suspect we'll at least trade a couple of these guys at some point.

If one is interested in "apples to apples" comparisons, I'm all for it. Compare NBA salaries, compare cost to the team (in terms of draft picks, trades, ...) However, folks on here tend to not want to do that. They'd rather pontificate on a player's future based on their feelings, especially if the stats don't back up their feelings.

Actually, the argument related to number of games played in relation to number of games available to have been played. Pressey, in 2 years, has played in 125 of a possible 162 games, or 77%. Due to time spent in the D-League, since he wasn't good enough to make an NBA roster from the get go, Frazier has played in 11 of a possible 82 games, or 13%. Bringing up a draftee who has not had an opportunity to play any games is not a reasonable reply.
