Yeah, shouldn't he be clear and free to sign now?

For those who keep asking if he is free yet....The waiver period is 48 hours, and always ends at 5pm Eastern. (Coon CBA FAQ #65)

This sums up my feelings exactly. I like all of our other bigs more than Bennett, but if (BIG IF) Bennett gives us the ability to trade, say Davis, for a wing then picking him up might be a good thing. Or if Bennett himself becomes a good trade chip that would be nice. OR if Bennett could play SF that would be terrific. But I'd give all our other bigs minutes ahead of Bennett at the PF spot. The only reason why I would consider signing him at this point is that he could be a trade chip. Or maybe he makes someone else expendable. We just suffered a complete teardown for the most part, and this team needs assets.
With that said, I really like our young bigs. I'm a fan of Vonleh, and I think Plumlee is extremely underrated. Meyers showed a lot of promise as well. Davis is a bit of an unknown for me. I hardly watched any Laker games last year. If Bennett could play small forward I would be a much bigger fan of this move.
Body types/metrics are meaningless here; Draymond is unique, u can't compare the 2; far different players in many aspects. W/ the proper training... I definitely see how he can't, he hasn't shown any exceptional intelligence @ the 3 let alone his current position (if he hasn't been able to show proficiency here... what makes him capable/able/worthy to move onto a position that requires much more speed/endurance?). His "handles" r so-so, potentially (his mid-range was poor last yr. in the NBA; his 3's were pretty good for the national team bc of the competition & the 3pt. line is a bit closer) a good shooter (IF he could become decent here, THIS is how he could revamp his career but he's still not going to be awesome), & he's decently strong. Bennett's not very quick; IF the highlights in this thread & for his national team were the best he could do... not impressive to me @ all & not good enough (he seems to be "quick" to some bc of timing & sometimes being crafty & his competition). A player like Bennett must become exceptional mentally @ this game in order to have success.
Also, "Defensive Rating = (Opponent's Points Allowed/ Opponent's Possessions) x 100. The result is the expected amount of points that an individual player will allow on defense over 100 possessions. This stat can be significantly influenced by the defense of a player's teammates." Post the link where you pulled those #'s from & I'll bet it will be easy to prove these #'s don't mean much.
I think you missed my point.
I don't particularly want Bennett for many reasons. But, if Triano has seen something we have not, and Bennett is really motivated to work hard on both ends of the court, I think he has a body type and some fundamental skills that could allow him to see minutes at the SF position. I have no interest in him as a pure PF and do not personally believe that he is especially motivated at this time.

Not well. Bennett is hefty, slow, & lazy. How do his tools to play the 3 compare to Aminu's?
I think we are in need at every position outside of Starting PG. All beyond that are basically unproven.I might be more interested in Bennett if if he were a former #1 at a position of need.
Not that it really means anything, but ESPN does have Bennett ranked ahead of several current Blazers (Harkless and Kaman) - http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13725236/nba-nbarank-players-ranked-nos-251-300
What that being said, we know Miller will be let go, either Pressey or Frazier will be gone, so that leaves them with 1 to cut. I say it's between Alexander and Montero. When it's all said and done, Bennett will be a better NBA player than both those guys. I think it will end up being Montero.
The real question is - who will be better in 5 years - Vonleh, Bennett or Harkless - if all are given a chance to play? I think Bennett can be the best of those three.
NBA teams can invite as many as 20 players to training camp, but are allowed just 15 roster spots—only 13 can be active—during the the regular season.
why is everyone saying it'll be one of the super-cheap, potentially major upside lotto ticket end-of-bench guys who'll be cut if we get Bennett (either on the cheap or claiming him), instead of, I don't know, the 2nd-round pick who's had the opportunity to play the 3 for a couple of years for us and still will likely be buried on the bench?
By who?
Name one person outside this forum or a blazer employee that compared him to Larry Fucking Bird.
Dude has a below average PER and offense is his strong point.
It does. Although at this point I'm more interested in seeing what Montero can do (he's the SG and Alexander is the PF, right?). I'd certainly keep Montero over Frazier and/or Pressey, since SG is the thinnest position in the NBA.It sure seems like the team has plans for Crabbe.
Um that's every position.I might be more interested in Bennett if if he were a former #1 at a position of need.
It's an interesting state in the NBA where teams have too many bigs...
I wouldn't expect you to ever admit to being so heinously wrong about Leonard. Move along, nothing to see here.
He's signing with Toronto.
Who the hell is Jeff Goodman? He's the only person saying he's going to sign with Toronto.
