Not gonna happen. It’s been reported that it can’t happen until 2022 at the earliest. They also under-bid on the potential property owned by PPS. There’s no way this thing works.
Under-bid? It's called an offer and there would be negotiations. They also offered to purchase land for a new headquarters for PPS. They also have sites outside the downtown area that they would consider if they have to.

This is not something you can just write off like previous attempts.

Even if this group ends up with land and no team, they can just develop the land.

Adding housing is going to be tricky.

Re-zoning the NW site would be a nightmare to negotiate.

Here's what a Major League Baseball stadium in Portland could look like

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2018/05/heres_what_a_major_league_base.html

Photographs of architectural renderings of a proposed Major League Baseball stadium obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive show backers of the pro-ball effort envision their team playing in a sleek, open stadium near the Willamette River.

The renderings depict a circular stadium with open views to the southeast and roughly two-thirds surrounded by translucent walls. A circular, crowd-covering awning appears supported by cables descending from a towering lighted white spire outside the stadium’s northwest end, similar to the structure of the Tilikum Crossing bridge.

Drawings also show substantial greenways and trees and – surprising for ever-rainy Portland – apparently no roof or dome over the field or many of the seats. It’s unclear whether the proposed design includes a parking structure.

"ever rainy Portland"???

Whoever wrote that must not have ever been to Portland during baseball season.

That looks like a stadium you see built for the Olympics.

That's not meant as a compliment.

Mike Barrett was saying there would for sure be a covering but that it was something that had never been done before and he seemed really excited about it. Each site had a different unique idea.
It'd be awesome if the "dome" for the stadium, when covered, was transparent, so it still had an open air feel to it. Maybe that's what that weird umbrella tower is, a dome slider thingamabob

Although I'm gonna take your word for it not being intended as a compliment I'm still going to take it as a compliment.

It looks pretty cool imo, I’m not a baseball fan so I am probably not the best judge heh.

Beautiful night in Portland for baseball. Fun night at the ballpark watching the Stros and relaxing with a couple of beers and whatnot.
When you said watching the Stos I was thinking drinking some Strohs. Strohs used to be a very popular mid West brand of beer.

Put it ON the goddamn river...
While that would be extremely cool, it would also be extremely expensive. It might price me out of some games. The games that I would go to would be really cool, though.

I remember Strohs in Portland during the 70s. Was it only a midwest beer? Am I misremembering?

Ha I remember those Strohs runs in college during those years. The beer was good enough and the price was very right.

I never remember it in Portland but I do remember it in the Mid West in the 60s thru the 80s. At the same time Reingold was popular in the NE. I saw mountains of Reingold, Oly, Bud and Schlitz in VN. They had large palates of beer stacked about 15 feet high in huge cubes.

Edit - Corrected spelling of Schlitz.
