It does kinda, but I hope you're wrong.

I heard it was a lot more complicated than people would think. Instead of just buying the land what happens is they agree in principle but can back out if they don't find a way for everything else to work out. So right now they are probably busy trying to get things like roads to and from the stadium and all the other infrastructure needed approved from the city. Getting a team is still most likely at least 5 years out anyway so as bad as it sucks to wait I think it's going to require a little patience. If this is just some elaborate real estate deal with little to no intentions of bringing baseball here I would be fucking livid though.

Something must have happened where things took a huge step back. For Barrett to say back in early July 4-6 weeks something must have occurred that has them stuck

I'm pretty sure the whole time they've made it very clear that there is no specific timeline and that those things you are saying they lied about were simply things people like Barrett said when they hope to have an announcement.

These kind of deals can't be rushed and there are thousands of parts that all have to come together. They also can't force people to sell their land.

The Winter Hawks owners bought a bunch of NHL to Portland related domain names a while back. Who knows what that really means. Maybe they were planning on selling them to Paul Allen some day? I'd love to see an NHL team come to Portland, but I'd prefer baseball.

Well this sucks. First the Blazers get a new cheapskate owner, then they lose half their revenue to this new competition. Enjoy what we have, because it's all downhill from here.

I just can't believe two squeaky clean guys would want to scam... that's why I have my doubts as to it being a scam.

Raise money and then.... keep it? I guess I don't understand. The scam that I heard at least made sense. Buy land for an arena at a discount and then sell it for a profit.

Perhaps announcing other ballpark property options helps them to get an even deeper discount on the property they plan to eventually purchase and later flip for a profit?

What part of that article gives you evidence of a scam? That PPS property was always going to be a political nightmare for the PDP people, and the other property they bid on in NW Portland was bought by another group.

I'm guessing that is the reason why they bid on those two properties at the same time to begin with. I don't think this is a scam at all, but in the end if it doesn't work out they could simply develop the property anyway.
