Maybe they’re going to landfill a portion of the stanky Willa-Metta

How deep do they need to dig for this project? I assume not as much as they would if they were building a high-rise apartment building.

That area of the Willamette was key in the development of Stump Town. When the ships couldn't navigate past Ross Island (steel hulls) that when they started clearing for Portland Town. Until then Oregon City was the shipping hub along with Milwaukie.

Oracle doesn’t have buildings directly to the north or an old raised bridge directly south. So yes, it will be crammed between those. Plus the land between the RI and Tillikum is not bigger than Oracle Parks property.
Like I said, it would fit but be crammed in between the 2 bridges.

100%. They said the key to getting the deal done at Zidell was getting the Redtail property so they could do a massive real estate development there.

I think the play is to say that they tried and failed to get a team after a few years and then just sell or develop the land at a profit.

I mean dint they sign a letter of intent for the term 2 prop? And this has a 4 year to purchase.

I can totally see that. I really don’t see the vision for a ballpark in that location. Craig Cheek said on the radio yesterday getting the Redtail property was key in making this whole thing work which says right there this is a real estate play.

Yeah. That makes no sense at all. Why would developing Redtail have anything to do with developing South Waterfront for a ballpark?

Maybe a land swap deal - The Redtail property would make more sense for a housing development than a ball park.

Why? They will probably make a lot of money.
I know it's crazy, but some people think that misrepresenting one's intentions for the purpose of making money is unethical.

Here's the plan for Redtail, according to Barrett - Earlier in 2024, Portland had looked at the RedTail Golf Course in Beaverton as a potential site, Barrett says it's still in the works but instead of housing a stadium, it would be used to build a training facility and Little League fields.

So, when nothing comes of this, can we finally put to bed the Diamond Project?

Ok everyone. I’m getting my first few little requests for information on this.
That doesn’t mean much really but it sounds like some think it’s at least a possibility.
Things like “if we research this exactly how likely is it we could man the work?”
That kinda thing.

I want MLB in PDX but this has been so close yet so far for so long that until MLB makes the announcement I cannot bring myself to have more then a tiny bit of hope. I mean before Covid hit a group with Russell Wilson was rumored to be super close to getting it done then the world stopped and everything took a back seat. I hope this group can get it done but until it's 100% official then not much more to say then what I said at the start.

Bring MLB to PDX !!!

That has much more to do with him being Mormon than anything else.
Well , he was on board with Diamond Project as an investor and ambassador for a while...Sure the Mormon thing could be a factor but SLC is also very aggressive from a business standpoint in going after opportunities. Maybe he wasn't as convinced about Diamond Projects progress?

So what happens when south waterfront inevitably floods again at some point?
