I'm not familiar with the Denver and Atlanta projects, but San Diego was a very different situation than T2. When the stadium was built in SD, the convention center was already across the street. In addition, there was a underutilized warehouse district surrounding the ballpark that could be redeveloped, a la the Pearl district here. The ballpark site was also at the hub of the existing trolley system.
None of that exists at T2. Everything has to be built from scratch. That doesn't mean it won't work - but SD is not the model.

What happened to the site or sites near the Rose Quarter? That seems like a much better location transportation-wise, you could even walk there after getting something to eat/drink nearby. How many people would walk to the T2 site?
