Maybe he meant where the old beaverton bowl used to be (or whatever it was called??), off of Walker there ? It's basically an abandoned lot now.

Maybe it was Sunset lanes? Shit, it's been like 25+ years I bowled there.
Yep that’s it. The one they built by Wild Fin is Kingpins bowling.

Did they pass, or did they realize that MLB was just using them as leverage to get a better deal with Washington DC?
Angelos controlled the DC market contractually, he had to be paid. MLB wanted us. The Lerner's were shocked to be able to purchase the team.

I guess they bought land on south waterfront. I’m still super skeptical

Must be buying part of the Zidel Yards. I think that's the only parcel available down there that would accommodate a baseball stadium.

It'll be interesting to see potential plans at this location. I hope, whatever they do, they have it facing the river. I don't think they'll be able to have Mt Hood in the background tho.

I would think you would want to have it facing towards the North to limit sun exposure but I'm just guessing.

Have it face the downtown skyline. also, there will be so little parking space down there, players will have to take the train to the game.

I dont know off hand how many, but I feel like the majority of baseball fields, CF is E/NE facing

A lot of historians believe the term southpaw is because left handed pitchers faced south on the mound. Before night games were possible, ballparks were often oriented so that batters faced east to avoid the sun. This would have meant that a left-handed pitcher's arm would have been facing south when they pitched

Oracle faces east.

The issue is more that the view would likely be the Ross Island bridge.

It appears as tho Oracle park is sandwiched in a similar way that a park built in this location would be.

Need to see their plans

Ok so its on the westside of the river just north of south waterfront. So where would the stadium actually fit at?

1 South of Ross Island Br - there is not much room between the ross island bridge and south waterfront buildings
2 Between Ross island and pedestrian bridge - not much room between these bridges either
3 Between pedestrian bridge and i5 bridge - Newer OHSU building there already

I guess they must be thinking of building on option 1 or 2 but those just seem like they will be very hard to fit a stadium in there.

Parking would be a disaster too, I guess they could try to fit a massive garage in the other side of the Ross island bridge. But they'll need some huge expansions of roads/bridges to get cars in and out of that location.
Maybe they could also build a massive parking garage over on the OMSI side then people walk across the pedestrian bridge.
I guess there is the commuter train that goes on that bridge too... might actually be much easier to get to the stadium from the east side than west side. If they could have a fleet of trains going every 3 minutes closes to game time maybe there is a way to make this work.

Having Dinner/Hotel/etc options right on site would be huge as people could go there well before the game plus it would help traffic. Thats always the problem with Blazer games and the Rose Garden, there just aren't many nice options right at the arena.

Best I can get for you at this point. I'll have more in a few days I'm sure. Zidell yards is the area where they used to build barges.

This might make more sense?

IMHO this is an absolute pipe dream. Just does not seem like something that would work well? Maybe there are plans to rebuild the Ross Island Bridge? I honestly have not seen that come across my desk yet?
