MM's all important first pre season game player analysis

Claiming that "anyone against trading for DeAndre deserved to self suspension from one pre-season game". I stand corrected. You just want people to suspend themselves because you are soooooo right and they are wrong.

Got it

Yes, you do got it

Just curious if you think he looked equally horrible to last season?

You know I'll have to watch again, but I noticed he looked as lost to me on defense, but seemed to set a better pick on offense.

MM, you're a nutjob! You can't evaluate players after one preseason game GOOD or BAD.....

Shit, if we had played Philly or Phoenix in this first preseason game and we won by 20......that still wouldn't mean shit. I know you're just throwing what you observed out there, but you just can't do it off one meaningless game.

We play the Jazz on Friday and will KILL them. Even if Lopez or Robinson has a 15/12 game, it won't mean much right?

I hope we figure out quickly that he isn't really much of an option on offense. Dude is better suited as a Chuck Hayes than a Carl Landry.

You guys do realize we were running that as if we had LA available, right? I'm sure Stotts wanted to run the offense like usual. If T-Rob thrives, great; we saw him struggle at times. But it's the first game, and I'm pretty sure there was more of an emphasis on running the offense they wanted to run, than playing to the players' strengths. Again, I highlight that this was the first game of the PRESEASON, and it's much better to focus on players learning the specific offense than it is to play to the players' strengths and just simply go for the win. It's about teaching and learning, not about winning.

whats funny about your "analysis" is that I basically disagree with everything you said besides wes lookin shitty

Could you let me know when it is ok to talk about and evaluate the team?

You're smarter than this. Like I said, we are going to play a VERY shitty Jazz team on Friday and crush them. Are you going to start a thread Saturday morning listing how good everybody looked. Of course not, because it's one meaningless preseason game and you as a level headed guy with a little bit of common sense knows you can't make an educated opinion off one small sample size.

Honestly FAMS, give this team 10 regular season games or so and then do a thorough breakdown.

Never thought I'd see the day that I'd be the voice of reason in this dump!

and after the game I will evaluate the players and play then. Saying so and so was shitty last night doesn't mean they will be all season, or even the next game.

I agree with mm being smarter than this. He's been overwhelmed with this "personal attack" thing; hampering his normal self. I miss the old MM.

While I appreciate how much you miss me and all that other gay stuff O:) giving an opinion on how players looked even after 1 game isn't dumb. It's just an opinion. And as I said to John, it's not like I think a player will be like this all year. it's ebbing and flowing, damnit

Good point. You are entitled to post your opinions about a player after one game, it just doesn't hold much weight. Do me a favor and after 20 games do a huge breakdown of what you like and don't like. I respect your knowledge of the game, and would love to see what you think after a large sample size of action is there for you to breakdown.

I have seen enough replays from you to now assess that you needed that four year degree :devilwink:

If we have Leonard and Robinson out there together, Leonard should definitely be playing LMA's role of midrange shooter on offense while Robinson plays the Lopez lunch pale role. That clearly worked for them at least on the Leonard monster dunk.

Or consider the other source... aha.

I find it odd anyone would disagree though. Oh well

LOL. Since it's one game, and they clearly weren't playing to individually strengths, but to learn the offensive sets and what not.

Given this, I find it odd people really are analyzing individual players.

Agreed. But they had Robinson in there with the first unit for a while for LMA. He was more of a stand-in for LMA. It was pretty clear they weren't trying to play to Robinson's abilities, but to work on the offense as if LMA is in there.

Well please accept my apology then. I stand corrected

So you're the one

for the record, I think everyone who posted, wants to hear your opinion, but they may also want to argue against it. I want to get the average opinion, because i'm terrible at evaluating nba talent.

But those arguing against are ignorant losers.

So here is what I noticed last night as I watched the game

Lillard looked the same. I'm not sure if that is good or bad, but he did. He also seemed a bit disinterested. (pre season I know, but still)

Matthews was meh. In fact maybe not that good. Poor shooting and poor defense

Batum looked aggressive, which I loved, but he didn't really seem to play within whatever semblance of an offense there was

Robinson was what the Kings and Rockets thought he was last night. What he was was alright, but he wasn't all that

Lopez is not a rim protector, but he works hard and has a bit of a nasty streak, so that's nice

Freeland was terrible

Claver made smart plays and should see the floor more

Bost looked fine, but it doesn't matter because he wont be on the opening day roster

Crabbe is the quintessential 3pt specialist who can't shoot

Barton looked like he may have improved slightly

Leonar_ was horrible. How many years do we need to wait for him?

I couldn't care less if the team won or lost, but I was really disappointed in the offense and defense. the offense looked stagnant (could be because LA was out) No flow at all. the defense was still pathetic. No rotation, no trapping

As for anyone why was against trading for DeAndre Jordan this summer, you should give yourself a self imposed 3 day suspension from the forum.

Jordan looked good early last season too and this is just preseason. Look up his playoff numbers from last season. He is awful. I'm glad we don't have him. He is garbage.

The more I watch Thomas Robinson the less I'm impressed. We already knew he had absolutely 0 offense and yet it's still ridiculous how rough his game is. I'm not really expecting too much from him, and I certainly don't see him as someone that has huge potential. He's a garbage man for the garbage man.

People don't want to hear it, but if the goal is to be the best team possible this season, keeping Hickson for $5M over Robinson and his $3.5M is easily the better move imo. I don't even see how it's close.

But the Clippers' announcers couldn't stop talking about how he's changed his diet, no more sodium/soft drinks! Plus, they say he's got a great six pack, something he didn't have in years past. So there.

I appreciate MM's analysis.

Good god this forum will dissect a Canzano article or Blazer off court trouble or the new name of the RG for 3-4 pages in the off season. We finally have a game to talk about and we shouldn't be analyzing the game?

Most posters here are knowledgeable and the fact it is the first pre-season game doesn't even need to be mentioned. Anyone on this board knows it's the Blazers first preseason game and to respond to an analysis that it is the first preseason game . . . well, you are a step behind. I'm guessing MM knew that and is past that and has decided to see what can be taken out of the first game.

Either that or we continue talking about the new food prices or if we like the name Moda Center.

BTW MM-I completely disagree with your analysis. And when I actually get to see a game (this wed) . . . that might have more punch to it.

No it's preseason and you must follow the heard!

One game. You can't judge Robinson on one game. Heck, he was just Fan Fest MVP the other night. He also played well in summer league.
