I just look at two main things:
1. The Flyers series versus the Pens series. And outside of the egg we laid in game 4, I think we played better against the Pens. Won 3 in their building. Won a game 7 on the road. Against the Flyers I think we were beaten up more. Had home ice. We played 3 games against their backup goalie. Got whipped in game 6. Not sure we win game 7 if it's played at Philly. I happen to think the Pens series was the "easier" series between the two despite being down 3-1. Hence I think we matchup better against the speed and skill of Montreal over the physical pounding size of Boston.
2. Boston owns us right now. We can spin it anyway we want, but they beat us almost every single time we play now. Say the playoffs are a different game/season. All that stuff, but the fact remains they always seem to pound us into the ground. They dominated us in last seasons playoffs. I really just don't see them as a good matchup for us.
Now 31 makes a fair point, Boston may have had tired legs, and that could have been to our benefit, but I still think this is the better matchup on paper.
The only things that make me think twice about that are Subban and the fact that we stink in Montreal (and Hank struggles).
But I guess that is all water under the bridge now anyway since Montreal it is. Now we go play. Hank is great, and now it is time for him to stepup in Montreal. That simple.
We'll see a lot of 2-1 type games IMO.
